Susan Garza Obituary

GARZA
Susan Lurie Garza was born in New York City. She then moved just a couple of years later with her family to Chicago. After high school, she moved again to Oklahoma and attended the University at Oklahoma. Susan graduated with two degrees in both English and Geography and moved to Dallas to begin her career with Pan American Airlines. While in Dallas she met and fell in love with her future husband, Carmen Carlos Garza Jr. They were married in 1965 in full ceremony in Raymondville, Texas and hosted a sit down dinner for 1,200 guests. They both spent the very happiest years of their lives raising their two children together, Carlos Lino Garza and Laurie Suzanne Garza: Their Pride and Joy. Susan divorced and became a single mother, "picked herself up by her bootstraps", and set out to become the world's greatest travel agent. Her clientele was limited to a very exclusive group of travelers. The loss of her deep knowledge and breadth of experience will be felt in the travel industry. She is survived by her two children, Carlos Lino Garza, Laurie Suzanne Garza, a son- in- law, Nicholas Roy Arato, Jr., a step grandson, N.R. Hokulani Arato III, her 101 year old mother-in-law, Maria Cantu Garza, two sisters- in- law, Maria Cimodocia Garza and Nancy Jeanette McCallum, her four nephews, Ralph G McCallum III, Allan Neil McCallum, Patrick Mies, Victor Lino Leal, and so many other cousins that loved our mother very deeply. Mass will be held at the Blessed Sacrament church on Monday, June 25, 2012 at 2pm. The service is open for all family and friends of Susan Lurie McCallum Garza.

I am deeply saddened to hear of Susan's passing. Please accept my condolences. Carlos' parents were close family friends of our family. Laurie and Carlos Jr., please find comfort in knowing that your Mother and Father have reunited in Heaven.
God Bless them both.

Mom, I miss you so much. I expect that you are now enjoying the greatest travel experience of your life. A trip that not even your amazing skills could put together. Be sure to meet the innkeeper. I've heard that His hospitality is legendary and unmatched the world over. Be sure to take lots of pictures. Love, Laurie
