Susan Burris Smith McFarland, age 43, entered into rest with her beloved parents, Mary Elizabeth and Allen H. Smith on November 25, 2002. Devoted mother of Charles, Thomas and George; beloved sister of Harley M. Smith (Veronica), Ann Smith-Carr (Gary) of St. Louis, MO and Pete Smith (Jeanne) of Kansas City, MO; favorite aunt of Kirsten Slaughter, Jennifer Hillebrandt, Mitchell Smith, Beau Hillebrandt, Addison Smith and Brandon Smith; special great-aunt to Kirinne and Dylan Slaughter and Marion Chater; beloved niece and cousin; treasured friend to many. A bright, high-spirited woman with an innate willingness to do for others. Known for her infectious laughter and her mischievous sense of humor, Susan inspired warmth, friendship and inclusion in everyone privileged to know her. Susan's special sense of style equaled her natural ability to negotiate. Susan's life remains a celebrated tribute to all that is good in this world, and her untimely passing will leave a void in many hearts. Charles, Thomas and "Georgie" formed the center of Susan's life, around which all else revolved. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to: Heidi Search Center and Children's Shelter of San Antonio. Memorial Service in Celebration of Susan's Life Tuesday, January 21, 2003 at 4:00 P.M. at First Presbyterian Church, 404 North Alamo. The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall following the Service. A Memorial Service and Burial will be held in St. Louis, MO at a later date.
