Terri Jones Obituary

Terri Lee Jones went to be with the angels and God on 25 December 2022 after a years-long battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband, Tim; parents, Robert and Shirley; brother, Mark; sister, Patti; children, Tamara (Eric), Tiffany (Henry), Tim (Kristen); her grandchildren: Anthony, Lilia (David), Brooklyn, and Allison; her great-grandchildren; Lilliana, Lucas, Tobias, and Daphne; best friend, Karen; and many geocaching friends. No one could have asked for a more devoted and loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Terri was born on April 5th, 1953, in Garden City, Kansas, to Robert and Shirley Stevenson. She married her high school sweetheart Tim on 17 Aug 1972 in Overland Park, Kansas, and started their lifelong journey. Terri was active in her husband's 36-year Army career. They traveled the world, visited all 7 continents, lived in Italy 3 years, Germany 5 years and geocached in 19 countries.

Terri started her exciting career of volunteerism in 1979 as a Patient Assistant Representative at Darnall Hospital at FT. Hood. She volunteered at every school and with each grade level her children attended as room mother and was active in all PTAs. She served as Brownie leader, Girl Scout leader, and Tiger Cub organizer. Then she became a Den leader, Pack Mother, and Boy Scout Board member and secretary of the Boy Scout Troop at Ft. Carson where her son, Tim, earned rank of Eagle.

As the wife of an Army officer, there were exciting challenges. She headed many Family Support Groups at numerous locations. She always looked for ways to get involved. She spent innumerable hours volunteering at Military Hospitals, Medical Clinics, and Dental Clinics. She spent many years with Army Community Service in Italy and Germany. She was awarded the SETAF Community Award of Excellence at Camp Darby, Italy, in 1983 and in 1994, she had the honor of being Volunteer of the Year in Vilseck, Germany.

She was always very active in her churches. She was an active Lector/Reader and Eucharistic Minister, organized and ran Vacation Bible School while in Italy and taught many Sunday School classes. She was in several church choirs and was President of the Catholic Women of the Chapel overseas. While in Germany, during Desert Shield/Storm, she set up and taught aerobic and fitness classes. She assisted the chaplains in their Reach-out program in Nuremberg and Erlangen bringing spouses together, arranging childcare and setting up family symposiums. Once her husband deployed, she became a Family Support Leader and worked with the rear command to help support family members while their loved ones were at war.
Terri was an active CPR and Basic First Aid Instructor for the American Red Cross and enjoyed teaching aerobic classes at the Boerne YMCA. Since 2010, Terri was very active in her local St Vincent de Paul and made many deep friendships in the organization. She was also an active Boerne High School Band Grandmother and courageously chaperoned the band on the away game buses.

She was commissioned as a Yellow Rose of Texas for a lifetime of exceptional volunteerism by Governor Rick Perry.

Terri was greatly loved and will be missed by all but lives on in our hearts. Rosary at 1000 and service at 1030 at St Joseph Honey Creek Catholic Church 6 January 2023.
