Thomas Keith "Tom" Witt

1948 - 2022

Thomas (Tom) Keith Witt was born on December 1, 1948, to Keith Leon Witt and Louise Schaub Witt in Yates Center Kansas. He died on November 4, 2022, after a series of hospital and medical rehabilitation stays, from complications of multiple sclerosis.

Tom graduated in 1966 from Shawnee Mission East High School in Shawnee Mission, Kansas. In 1970 he received his B.S. in Business Administration from Kansas State University, graduating cum laude. Tom served in the U.S. Army, Infantry, Finance Corps in 1971-72. He received a Master of Business Administration from Harvard University in Cambridge, MA in 1974. Tom was very proud of his designation as a Chartered Financial Analyst by The Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts in 1979.

In the following 25 years, Tom held a series of financial investment, fiduciary, and administration jobs, then, retired with 21 years of service in 2017 as Director, H-E-B Savings and Retirement Plan ("the Plan"), as a member of the Plan Investment Committee and the individual Trustee of the Plan Trust. In his free time Tom enjoyed golf, was a certified Open Water Diver and clearing/ burning cedar on the acreage around his homes.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Mary Catherine Russell and nephew Kevin James "Jack" Santaularia, Jr. He leaves behind his wife and partner of 43 years, Paula, and his only daughter, Alexis Witt Morgan of Bloomington, IN, who presented him with his only grandchild, Katerina Elaine Morgan, on 6/10/2020.


Siblings Marjorie Witt Werly of Emporia, KS, Philip K. Witt of Kansas City, MO and Susan Witt Santaularia, of Dallas, TX, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, survive him as well.

Tom was grateful for the professional and compassionate care he received during his final illness at University Hospital and Warm Springs Rehabilitation Hospital of Westover Hills, San Antonio, and his family expressly thanks his caregivers at Kendall House of Morningside Ministries and Alamo Hospice of Boerne.

Tom stipulated that he be cremated, with no formal funeral or burial services-those who knew him well will recognize this preference "to fly below the radar"!
