Victoria Gannaway Obituary

Victoria Elena Gannaway
October 24, 1944 - September 26, 2025
Victoria Elena Gannaway, 80, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2025. She was born in San Antonio on October 24, 1944 to Melvin and Dorothy Newsom, the second youngest of four siblings. Vicki loved many things in her life including spoiling her grandchildren rotten, George Strait, animals of any kind, cooking with extra butter, trail rides with the South Texas Trail Riders, blue and white pottery, reality television, Texas A&M Football, dominoes, her Macy's and Walmart co-workers, rodeos, two stepping, Tex Mex and a perfectly timed joke. She had a beautiful voice and loved singing loudly to 80s country music. She had a warm smile, a graceful laugh and a way of making everyone, even strangers, feel at ease. She will be deeply missed by all that knew her.

Vicki is survived by her husband Richard Gannaway, daughter Michelle Hagood and husband Jed, son Chad Tschudi and wife Misa, grandchildren Jackson Hagood, and Kate and Matthew Tschudi, and sister Grace Newsom. She is preceded in death by her parents Melvin and Dorothy Newsom, her brother Max Newsom and sister Penelope Scheh.

A Celebration of Life will be held on October 31, at 11 am at the Wilson County Cowboy Church in La Vernia, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations in Vicki's honor can be made to The Micheal J Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research at www.michaeljfox.org.
