Please accept my deepest sympathies on the loss of your beloved. There are never any right words to express how deeply sad I am for the pain your family is enduring at this difficult time.

As Chair of the Senate Committee on Veteran Affairs and Military Installations, I am sincerely thankful for his valiant service in defense of our rights and freedom.

His commitment to family, friends, our community, and to serving our great nation leaves a wonderful legacy. May the love and the wonderful memories you shared with him help you when you need it most. He will never be forgotten, and your family will be remembered in my prayers.

Over the years, Walter and I had shared a special relationship of friend/friend, father/daughter. I will never forget the the day I met Walter; I worked at the Container Store at the time, and it was my personal mission to know all my customers. After I had had the pleasure of waiting on him, I said 'thank you Mr. Creswell, and before I could go any further, 'he said that was my daddy's name, I'm Walter' well that sealed our fate for a true friendship.
And well to make a long story short, God has blessed me with two unique gifts--a beautiful smile (a gift that he and I shared)and I'm a hugger and a big one...he received both on that very day and as the saying goes...the rest is history!! I would have to guess that we last spoke sometime last year; we hadn't talked as much in the past couple of years because I had become ill...he would always want to know if I had the right specialists (I would always inform him that I was). I was informed yesterday of his passing when I called the Waterford and they shared the info with me...I will miss you very much Walter but I know you're in a better place and surely smiling down on us...I love you!!!

Walt never lacked for a smile and a helping hand. I was blessed to know and work for some great people as a young Air Force officer in ATC and Walt was one of them. Rest in Peace my friend.

=?= In my active duty military career, I had two Civil Service mentors and advocates …Mr. Thad Brannon, Jr. [Lt Col, Ret.] HQ ATC/LGX & Mr. Walt Creswell [Col, Ret.] HQ ATC/XP. I am extraordinarily indebted to both for their wisdom, guidance and friendship.
