Wanda McNamee Obituary

Wanda Jeanette McNamee
July 18, 1954 - November 24, 2025
Wanda Jeanette McNamee, beloved wife, aunt, and friend, passed away on November 24, 2025, at the age of 71, in San Antonio, Texas. Born on July 18, 1954, in San Angelo, Texas, Jeanette was the daughter of George and Juanita Gideon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl A. McNamee, her parents, and her brothers Kenneth Gideon, Gary Gideon, and Jim Gideon.
Jeanette's life was one filled with love, dedication, and a deep connection to those around her. She and Carl, the love of her life, were united in marriage on November 19, 1994, in San Angelo, and their bond was a testament to the joy they found in one another's company.
Jeanette is survived by her nephews, Craig Gideon and his wife, Jackie, of Georgetown, Texas, and Brett Gideon and his wife, Kathleen, of Sandia Park, New Mexico, and Scott Gideon and his wife, Robbi of San Angelo, Texas. She is also lovingly remembered by her great-nephew Cameron Gideon of Austin, her great-nieces Allison Fraizer and husband Patrick of New Mexico, Leslie Gideon and Stephanie Tuttle of Georgetown, Texas, and her great-great-nephew, Levi. Jeanette's family was the heart of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
After graduating from high school, Jeanette attended Angelo State University, where she earned a degree in Journalism. Her career began at the San Angelo Standard Times newspaper, where she met her husband Carl. She later moved to San Antonio, where she continued her work as a journalist with the San Antonio Express-News.
Jeanette had a wide range of interests and hobbies that enriched her life. She loved to travel, read, and write, and she treasured the time she spent with her nephew Craig in Georgetown. "Game days" with her many friends were among her happiest moments, and she was always the first to organize or join a friendly competition. Jeanette also had a deep affection for her cats, Abby and Avery, who brought her comfort and joy.
She will be remembered for her unwavering compassion, her kindness, and her deep love for family and friends. Jeanette's spirit and generosity touched the lives of all who knew her. Her legacy will live on through the countless lives she enriched and the love she shared so freely.
A Gathering of Family & Friends will be held at Sunset North Funeral Home, located at 910 North Loop 1604 East, San Antonio, Texas, 78232, on December 13, 2025, starting at 1:00 pm.
A Celebration of Life will follow at the same venue on December 13, 2025, beginning at 2:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to an animal rescue organization of your choice, in honor of Jeanette's love for her beloved cats.
Rest in peace, Jeanette. You will be missed, but never forgotten.

I met Jeannette this year playing Tripoloy. She was very friendly, thoughtful and clever! I enjoyed her company the very short time I knew her!
