Catherine “Kate” McNamee, age 93, of Schaumburg, Illinois, passed away peacefully, surrounded by love. Kate was born on June 21, 1932, in Oak Park, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Graham “Mac” McNamee, with whom she shared a lifetime of devotion, faith, partnership, and family. Kate was the proud and loving mother of seven children: Patty McGee; Dan McNamee (Bekki); Jim McNamee (Denise); Maureen Knudson (Steve); Bill McNamee (Lisa); Katie Slota (Mike); and Julie Guy (Kris). Her greatest joy was her family, which grew to include 24 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart. A devoted matriarch, Kate was happiest when surrounded by those she loved. She cherished time spent together, family traditions, and especially her treasured summers in Lake Geneva, where many memories were made and laughter was always close by. Kate will be remembered for her unwavering love, her quiet strength, and the deep sense of home she created for generations of her family. Her legacy lives on through the many lives she touched and the family she so proudly built. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 12, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at St. Gregory of Nyssa Catholic Church, formerly known as St. Marcelline, located at 822 N. Springinsguth Road, Schaumburg, IL 60194. A Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 a.m., with a luncheon immediately following in Diemer Hall at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Sunrise of Bloomingdale, where Kate spent the last four years of her life and received loving care, or to the St. Vincent de Paul Society or the WINGS Program, in her memory.
