Hello,
We realize that we are very late to express our deepest condolences, but we wanted to let your family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this week and several of these will be dedicated to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and hometown of Wilfred “Willy” Flores Jr. US Army Specialist.

We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, their families and friends and others who support our mission.

We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.

October 21, 2011

To the family of Army Spc. Wilfred Flores,

I am the head football coach at Broadway High School, located in Virginia. Each week this season, our football team will play in honor of a fallen soldier. This week, we will be playing for Wilfred. Our team considers this a great honor. His acts of bravery deserve a fitting tribute. Our players will play very hard tonight and we hope to make Wilfred and his family proud. I hope you find comfort knowing that Wilfred's life continues to inspire others... even a small town football team in Broadway. Thanks!

The flag is flying in the sky
A daily reminder of who and why
We sit here remembering them today
These heroes that now lie in their grave.

While here on earth, the bravest ones
A soldier, a mother, a daughter, a son
The father's who went far off to war
To ensure our safety and so much more

To keep our children happy and free,
Someone must do this job, you see
So, today remember the soldiers who served,
Because this is one thing they truly deserve.

The loved one's that they have left behind,
The Gold Star mothers, like your and mine
We honor them proudly, every day
Our American Soldier...Proud and Brave
By Shannon Williams-Austill

I want to thank this soldier for their sacrifice.
And, I wish to extend my deepest regards to the loved ones they have left behind. Their service to our nation, has not gone unnoticed. They are our heroes, who paid the ultimate price for us, and that is something that every American needs to be reminded of and remember everyday.
The freedom we all have, we have because of brave young men and women who made a choice to defend and serve.
Today, let me remember your loved one with you.

It's not every day that you find out one of your best friends in High School has been dead for nearly two years. There is alot you can say about a guy like Flores. He was a great guy, and one of the funniest guys you'd ever meet. But for me to talk about the guy I knew I'm going to have to split his personity in three.
First, was the Juggalo side. For everyone who doesn't know, a Juggalo is a Insane Clown Posse fan. He was obsessed with the group and from what I read from people who still knew him, he still was. He helped me not only get into the music, but understand the deep messages that are in the music. I think because of this side to him, lead to him always being true to himself.
Second is that he was very religious. Me and him used to argue religion all the time as we could agree on little when it came to god, or churches, or really anything.
Last, was his push to join the Army. Never did I meet someone who wanted to join the Army so bad. I even tried to recruit him into joining the Marines with me and instead he talked me into joining the Army. No other unit would do, either, he always wanted to join 10th Mountain Division.
The bottom line is simple, Flores was one of the best people I have ever met. He has had such an influence on my life.

I just wanted to say that i knew SPC. Flores since his first day at Charlie Rock. He was a funny guy.
He was also the Battalion Commanders favorite soldier. He would always ramble on to me that his favorite band "Insane Clown Posse" rules the world, and i would always argue with him and disagree...but, Most of all;i miss him and i will never forget serving with him. It was an honor. He was a buddy you can trust and count on. Let the lord give your parents strength and comfort and may god bless your heart and soul buddy.
you won't be forgotten.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

To the famly of Wilfred Flores:
I send my deepest condolences on your loss. The days, weeks & months ahead are so difficult but with family and friends and memories of your son I pray that you have the strength to get thru. Our family has been thru what you have as my nephew Sgt Kurt Schamberg served with your son in their January 2005 deployment- Kurt was killed on May 20, 2005- exactly 1 month before the unit came home-and we buried him Memorial Day weekend. We are grateful to the soldiers that served with Kurt, the members of the 2/14th and friends from Ft. Drum for all their support. With Memorial Day approaching I will put 2 extra flags on Kurt's grave-one for your son and one for Jason Arnette. They are all in heaven and I know they will try to be sure the rest of their brothers in arms come home safely. I have Wilfred and your entire family in my prayers. May God watch over and help all of you to endure each day.

“Soldier”
Written to Honor the Service of Our Fallen Soldiers

Soldiers write history…they pay the price
Many miles distant, you live the life
Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still

We hope and pray that all will find peace
In God, in the flag, in memories of valor
Gone now, our pride and courage you see
“An Army of One” our motto forever

Willing to risk all for love of our Brothers
We’re still Your Soldiers…and we showed the way
Our Lives too short, now pray for the others
Lived free died Heroes in lands far away

Deep within souls all cherished our Service
We’ll always have what some never know
Courage and Honor, our names forever
Lived life with purpose…just our time to go

We march in the Heavens with Honor and Glory
Missions accomplished we fought the Good Fight
Many years from now…we’ll tell the full story
Until that Day we will live in the Light

Our lives we laid down in a land far away
Still watching o’er you this night and by day
No need to talk…just know we are with you
There in your hearts and we hear what you pray

Yes we are your soldiers
Our lives we laid down
Still We guard o’er you
Still Duty bound

Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still
We’ll always have what some never know
Lived life with purpose…it was our time to go

To those family members and friends of SPC Flores, I offer my condolences and prayers for Wilfred, a bona fide hero of our country. I know there is little which can be said in such a time of loss, but know there are many of us Oklahomans, active and retired members of the U.S. Army who comprehend the true sacrifice by a willing and motivated volunteer. God bless you all and know Wilfred is in a better place to look down and be content he had such great family and friends for his short time on earth.

Julian Alvarado III

April 12, 2007

Sometimes God needs another beautiful Angel. Wilfred, the honorable Army Spc. Wilfred Flores Jr., was My cousin Wilfred Sr.'s son. My dad Julian Alvarado Jr. and Wilfred's beautiful Late Grandmother, My Late Aunt Vickie, were brother and sister. I see a very strong Family resemblance in the photo attached to an article which honors him.

We have such a very large and beautiful Family. There are 5 living generations on My Mother's side alone. With such a large Family we unfortunately only see some of our Family members only at weddings and funerals. I may have met Wilfred at the funeral of his beautiful Late Grandmother (and My Aunt) Vickie's funeral. Nevertheless, Wilfred was one of 'Us' - the most important word in any language, "Family". You will be deeply missed by so many of My family members, Wilfred, and knowing this brings Me much pain just thinking of it all. You will forever be mentioned in My prayers, Wilfred. May God be with you and all of our big beautiful Family during this time of grief as they remember you so fondly and realize that you are no longer with us, as a Family. The circle is broken. We are not supposed to die so young. But, as I said, sometimes God needs yet another beautiful Angel. - With All the Love I Have for ALL My Family, Julian ("J.J") Alvarado III

As a good friend gowning up in Lawton, Ok with Willy, I know he'll be missed. He was like a little brother and a best friend to me. Remembering the many times we spent hanging out and having fun with each other after school. Even the many sleepovers week after week. Playing games and even heading out to the woods playing with camoflauge our parents had or passed down, both our parents being retired Military. You were always funny and fun to hang out with and I know your memory will live on. He did what he always wanted to do, and he also did it for our country reguardless of the risk. We'll all miss you Spec. Wilfred Flores Jr. Take care, Willy. Sorry, I won't be able to make it one last time to see you.

My Deepest sympathy for Wilfred, Vicky, and Theresa, and all his friends and family

I am sure if tears could build a stairway up to heaven you would all climb up and carry him home again, even not knowing him I'd follow you right up that stairway. Perhaps the shiny stars in the skies aren't stars perhaps they are openings where our love ones shine down to let us know that they are ok. God bless you and your family. And as for you SPC. Wilfred Flores Jr. You Sleep Sweet with the Angels...for you the war is over...so sleep sweet my angel!

Know in your heart that Willy is a true hero and will never be forgotten. All gave some, some gave all. Rest in peace Willy. You will be missed by everyone’s life you have touched.

As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life’s routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family, friends, and all Americans for the sacrifice of one of your family members for our freedom. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. May you find comfort in the loving embrace of our Heavenly Father.

To have known Willy as a personal friend, I must say I am deeply honored. Willy was not only an awesome soldier, but also a great friend. He was always there, whether it was for his country, or for his friends. For the longest time, Willy was my only friend. I didn't get to see him again after he was deployed in 2004. Nonetheless, I knew he was living his dream, serving his country in the U.S. Army. Thanks for all the memories Willy. To Vicky and Wilfred, I am deeply sorry for the loss you have suffered. Willy is an American hero now. He will be remembered, always.

I realize "thank you" is not enough for the price your son paid, but I thank God for men like him. The sacrifice that your family has endured is too great for meager words, but I pray for God's blessings and love to your famiy.
