November 30, 1951 - October 3, 2016
Wood Jones Monkhouse, Jr., 64, of Beaumont, formerly of San Antonio, passed away on October 3, 2016, at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont.

The Family will receive friends between 5:30p.m. and 7:30p.m, on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Mandie and Dr. Garrett Peel, 124 East Caldwood, Beaumont ,Texas.

Memorial service will be 7:00p.m., October 7, 2016, at Bethesda Christian Church 2210 Basse Rd., San Antonio Texas, with Bro. J.V. Foster officiating.

Born in San Antonio, Texas, on November 30, 1951, he was the son of Wood Jones Monkhouse, Sr. and Betty Emma (Pierce) Monkhouse. He was a longtime resident of San Antonio and graduated from McCullum High School in 1970. Following high school he was an Electrical Diesel Mechanic by trade. He was a very strong willed, honest, spiritual man with a heart of gold. Wood was a truck driver for over 30 years working with Lubianski Enterprises and V.P. Hydrocarbons. He was a pilot and he loved drag racing, fishing and playing with his seven grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his baby sister, Betty Jo Monkhouse.

Wood is survived by his wife, RaDonna Monkhouse; daughters, Mandie Peel and husband, Dr. Garrett Peel of Beaumont, Texas and DiAnn Dunn and wife, Jennifer Dunn of Troy, Texas; grandchildren, Travis Farias, Blythe, Emsley, Blakellyn and Emrys Peel, Ty Jones Monkhouse, Presley Dunn; niece, Kristie Monkhouse and nephew, Brian Monkhouse and his brother, Carl Monkhouse of Brady, Texas. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Helen Thompson; brother-in-law and his wife, Bert and Elaine Thompson and niece, Candace Thompson

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Baptist Hospital of Southeast Texas Foundation in support of the Diabetes Education Program, 3070 College Street Ste.401, Beaumont, TX 77701or the Julie Rogers Gift of Life Program, 2390 Dowlen Road Beaumont, Texas 77706.

I was so sorry to hear about my Woody's passing. He was such a kind, and genuine soul who adored his family and took extreme pride in his grandchildren. I will be eternally grateful that our paths crossed, as he touched my life. I am proud to say he was my friend and will forever be in my heart. He is our angel now. My deepest and sincerest condolences to his family.
