Dean Smith Obituary
Dean Alan grew up in Santa Barbara and attended the University of Southern California. He swam competitively while at USC. After graduating, Dean married Dia and had seven children.
Dean was a certified public accountant and was transitioning to retirement. In his free time, Dean enjoyed refereeing local water polo games, spending time with his local community at Gateway Church, and pursuing his passion in photography.
Dean is survived by his mother Nancy, three brothers: Dave, Don, and Doug, and 7 children: Christian, Joel, David, Hannah, Heather, Hayleigh, and Benjamin. Dean is predeceased by Dia and his father Dean.

I knew Dean as a swimming team friend, sailor, husband and dad. A true friend who loved his family and the USC swimming community. Praying for his family and friends as his positive outlook and gentle spirit will be missed by all who knew him.

Dean was a wonderful gentleman guy, whom I knew through swimming. Fortunately I knew him away from the pool as well. I always admired his determination and work ethic.

Dean was a beautiful, gentle, peaceful, happy and positive soul, full of love generosity and contentment. Smart and humble.. possessing a beautiful and strong faith. A dedicated and inspirational team mate at USC swimming, a loving friend, devoted husband and father. An amazing man. A great loss for all who knew him. Thank you Dean for your love and wonderful memories.

Dean was one of the few Trojan swimmers to attend every workout, without complaint. He was always willing to share a positive word. And I never heard him complain about anything. He was a devoted father and husband and friend.
