Annette Dapper Obituary

DAPPER ANNETTE KATHERINE Annette Katherine Dapper passed away peacefully early Saturday morning, February 19, of natural causes at Nazareth House in San Diego. Born on January 16, 1910, to Frank and Anna Schack in Saint Paul, Minn., Annette attended the University of Minnesota. There she met her future husband, Darwin Vincent Dapper. They married in 1937 and remained devoted to each other for 68 years. In 1942, Annette and Darwin came to San Diego with their young son, Darwin Jr. Soon after followed daughter Diane, then son Terry. Annette dedicated her life to raising her family and supporting her husband as he built his business, the Dapper Tire Company. Annette was a kind and generous person, a champion of the underdog. She was a candy striper, and a volunteer at Nazareth House for 15 years. Annette laughed easily and danced beautifully. She delighted in a party and in the company of her many close friends. She enjoyed reading and asking questions. Always game for adventure, she and Darwin traveled the world. Above all she loved her family. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her niece Patricia Cannon and her family will all miss her very much. We feel blessed that we had her with us so long and take great comfort in the richness of her life and the knowledge that she and Grandpa are together forever at last. A Memorial Mass will be held for Annette at St. Therese Church in Del Cerro on Saturday, March 5, at 11 a.m. A memorial reception will immediately follow in the parish hall. In lieu of flowers, the Dapper family invites contributions in Annette's name to Nazareth House, 6333 Rancho Mission Road, San Diego, Ca 92108, or to San Diego Hospice, 4311 3rd Avenue, San Diego, Ca 92103.Please sign the guest book at obituaries.uniontrib.com

For being my Godparents, I am blessed. For being close family friends, I am grateful. For being such wonderful people, the world has gained. May you, Annette and Darwin, spend eternal life together in God's kingdom. Say hello to my Dad, Uncle Joe and Tom Cannon!

My parents (Mary Eileen and Matt Harrigan) were good friends of Annette and Darwin. Although they are now all gone, I still remember the fun and great laughs that they had together. I will keep you all in my prayers.
