Family and friends of Sir Tony:
Sorry this is so late in arriving;
just learned of his passing from
Vickie Ward. I taught math and science
at O'Farrell in the 60's. Tony was always quick with shop help I needed in my
science classes. He was beloved and
respected by all!
That photo of him in his jersey was
exactly as I remember him. What a
handsome dude.
Best to all. RIP Sir Tony!

Mr. Roe was a second father, neighbor, counselor and friend. I remember him from Little League, as a teacher and as a father to a great family. The world lost a good man when he left however I am sure Martha is happy to have him back

I worked with Tony at SD Unified "Career Development" on 12th Ave between E and F St beginning in 1967. An amazing role model, shared absolute love of family and friends - was there anyone that was not an instant friend of Tony's?. The family is in my prayers and know that wonderful memories will bring a smile when tears appear.

Please accept my condolences to all of the Roe family. Mr. Roe was my baseball coach when I was a kid, and I was good friends with Jim growing up. I remember Mr. Roe as having some good and positive influence on my life when I was young, and for that I am grateful he was put in my life at that time.

Mr. Roe was my woodshop teacher at O'Farrell Junior High when I was a 7th grader back in 1959. It was a wonderful experience being his student. He helped us all in the making of a sail boat to race in the regatta. I shed a few tears after reading about this great person who meant so much to me as my workshop teacher. I was so proud of what I had accomplished in his class.
My thoughts and prayers are with the family. You all
should be so proud.

SOMETHING OF YOU
I am going to ask something of you
That I never thought I would
Believe me if I had the choice
I'd choose to die if I could
But the choice is not mine
There's not much I can do
That's why I have to ask
This something of you
Please can you stay and hold my hand
When I am all alone
The touch of my child's hand
Is much different then the phone
Please can you help me stand up and walk
For my legs are getting weak
This isn't what I ever dreamt
My child's help to seek
Please can you gently wash my back
And maybe brush my hair
I know you have a life
I know this isn't fair
Please understand if I frustrate you
I am only here for a little bit more
And I pray that you're beside me
As I enter Heaven's door
For it is there I will no longer need you
And that's when I will do
EVERYTHING imaginable
To watch over you
Thank you my child
For doing all you could
When I had to ask something of you
That I never thought I would!

How fortunate I was to receive a wood shop class taught by Mr. Anthony Roe. Mr Roe was like having your favorite uncle as your mentor. Shop class was scheduled for 55 minutes, but seemed like 6 because it was so enjoyable. Mr. Roe instilled safety, tool use, material specs and hands on project builds.
Equally for me, Mr. Roe was a great influence towards work ethics and setting your sights higher in preparation for life,
I never forgot Mr. Roe and never will because he was the gold medal champion of industrial arts.

To Roe family
I'm very sad by this news and surprised how much it hit me today. Even though its been years and more like decades, I remember being coached by Tony Roe in little league and Pony league.
He always believed in me and as a baseball player. I always remember that as an umpire, you didn't want to make a the wrong call against Coach Tony because the umpire was going to receive a few minutes of high octane feedback..I use to like it when it happened.
I remember Jimmy, Paula and MaryBeth like it was yesterday and you should be proud of him as a Dad.
