Antone Borecky Obituary

Antone "Tony" Borecky, 98 ESCONDIDO -- Antone "Tony" Borecky, retired Air Force Colonel, 98, died on Jan. 17, 2008, at Redwood Terrace Health Center in Escondido. He was born Sept. 18, 1909, in Ellsworth County, Kan. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Kansas State in 1933, and received his Master's Degree in education from the University of Houston in 1947. During the 1940's Tony served as Commandant of Cadets at Kirkland Army Air Base in Albuquerque, N.M., where he ran the B-25 Bombardier School during World War II. He also served as Inspector General in Wiesbaden, Germany. He served for 20 years in the Air Force and retired in 1962 as Lieutenant Colonel. Tony is survived by his wife of 74 years, Elmira "Myra" Mehl-Borecky of Escondido. They have lived in Escondido since 1994. They both graduated from Holyrood High School in Holyrood, Kan., where Tony was class valedictorian. He leaves behind his three children and daughters-in-law, Al and Judy Borecky of Escondido, daughter, Jana Logan of Eugene, Oreg., and Dr. Michael and Susie Borecky of Brooklyn, N.Y. He is survived by his seven grandchildren and wives, Dr. David and Tami Borecky and Mark and Julie Borecky of Escondido, Alan and Donna Borecky of San Jose, Steve Logan of Emeryville, Doug and Kathy Logan of Alameda, Robert Logan of Cupertino, and Sarah Logan of Washington, D.C. His surviving great grandchildren are Adam, Mick and Tom Borecky of Escondido, Sammy and Lily Borecky of San Jose, and Alexandra Logan of Alameda. Tony was a member of the Retired Military Officers Association, American Veterans Association and Grace Lutheran Church in Escondido. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Lutheran Hour. A private military service will be held for his family. Tony will be remembered for his honesty, integrity and his quiet steadfast devotion to his wife, Myra. They were looking forward to their 75th wedding anniversary in September. Myra and family

Antone (Uncle Tony) is the last of my father's, Edward Borecky, siblings. I will miss sending birthday and Christmas cards and
