It's been 20 years since Araceli's death. She would've been 39 this year.
I met her and her friend Celicia Terrones at Hot Monkey Love Cafe near SDSU on a Sunday salsa dancing night. I think they were dance students of Tony Caligagan. They were really good dancers, even though they had a few months of lessons and practice.
I still remember Araceli's sweaty palms after a dance, and our hands kept slipping halfway through a song. We would laugh about it.
I took this picture of them at El Gato Loco Cafe in downtown San Diego in March (?) 2005 when we had a salsa event there.
