ARTHUR FORSTER THOMPSON

THOMPSON, ARTHUR FORSTER Arthur Forster Thompson, 65, of San Diego, passed away March 20, 2011, following a valiant battle against cancer. Art, who many knew as Tim, was born to the late Arthur Ray and Nanette Couts Thompson on June 29, 1945, in San Diego. After graduating from Grossmont High School, he went on to study, live and work in the greater San Diego area, with a couple of intermediary years in Denver, Colorado. A seventh generation San Diegan, Art was a descendent of the Bandini and Couts families that were especially prominent during the "Californios" period of San Diego and California history. Art was active in local politics, and during his early career he worked for both San Diego County Supervisor Lou Conde, and California State Assemblyman and Senator John Stull, before founding his own consulting firm. In subsequent years he also worked as a developer, with Larry Lawrence, and for several non-profit organizations. Art, a kind and true gentleman, enjoyed the theater, he loved to cook and to travel, and he spent as much time as he could at the family's ancestral cabin on Palomar Mountain. Art is survived by his domestic partner, Catherine (Kitty) Chisholm. He also leaves behind a sister and a brother, along with his extended loving family.
