Barbara Hagstrom Obituary

HAGSTROM, BARBARA Barbara Lou Eagles Hagstrom, 73, Pt. Loma, has died of cancer. Despite a long illness, the lifelong homemaker stayed active. She was a member of Pt. Loma Garden Club and Kappa Alpha Theta's San Diego Alumnae Chapter. Barbara was a toddler on moving with her parents, Robert and Laura Eagles, from Detroit to Coronado during the Great Depression. After graduating from Coronado High in 1950, she attended USC and San Diego State. In 1953 Barbara married Robert Painter Hagstrom, a 1948 graduate of Coronado High. They lived in Salinas, Kan., while he served in the Air Force. On returning to Calif. in 1956, Barbara worked in visuals for Grodins, a men's clothier in downtown Oakland, and Robert earned bachelor and master degrees at UC Berkeley. They also lived in Martinez and Bodega Bay, where Barbara was in such groups as Junior League, Camp Fire Girls, Fishermen's Festival, Allied Arts and the Boat Club. In 1997, Barbara and Robert came "home" to San Diego. Her husband and parents precede Barbara in death. She will join them at Greenwood Memorial Park, 4300 Imperial Ave. A graveside tribute is set Saturday, September 24, 2005, 11:00 a.m. Survivors include an only child, Suzan Esther Hagstrom; and cat, "Chico," of Pt. Loma. Please sign the guest book at obituaries.uniontrib.com
