Christine George Obituary

GEORGE, CHRISTINE ANN Christine Ann George (nee: Christine Barta), age 36, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, September 10, 2005, while training for a triathlon. Christine was born on October 3, 1968, in Panorama City, California. At the time of her death Christine was living in Chino Hills, California, with her husband Aaron George, Britt her giant Great Dane and her two cats Claude and Teak. Christine grew up in San Diego with her sister Cindy (Barta) Stewart and her brother Jason Barta. She graduated from Mt. Carmel High School in 1986 and went to college at USC on an ROTC scholarship where she met her husband Aaron. She graduated from USC in 1990 and was immediately commissioned into the United States Marine Corps at the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. During her career as a Marine, Christine lived in North Carolina, finally settling in Portland, Oregon, where she was in charge of Marine Corps Recruiting. In 1996 she separated from service with the USMC at the rank of Captain and became a pharmaceutical representative with the drug company Pfizer. She worked her way through the ranks at Pfizer and was a District Manager at the time of her death. Christine will be remembered as a loving wife, devoted daughter, sister and friend. Those who knew her best know that she was always striving to reach higher goals and be the best at everything she did. She always had a special place in her heart for animals and loved spending time with her big giant dog. She was her husband's loving soulmate and an important part of a family who loved her and will miss her more than mere words can express. She was also a doting aunt to her three nieces and one nephew who may not understand why God chose to take their Aunt when she was so young and vibrant, but who trust that God must have needed their Aunt Christy in Heaven for a reason that only He knows. Survivors include her husband Aaron George of Chino Hills, parents John and Sharon Barta of San Diego, sister Cindy (Barta) Stewart (husband Chris) of San Diego, brother Jason Barta of Sumter, South Carolina, parents-in-law Russ and Merva George of Sandy, Oregon, sister and brother-in-law Hanrre and Cathy of Happy Valley, Oregon, nieces Alexa, Kayla and Emily, nephew John, as well as many aunts, uncles and extended family from all over the United States. Christine also leaves behind hundreds of grieving friends from her childhood and her extended family at Pfizer. Funeral Mass to be held Friday, September 16, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 15546 Pomerado Road, Poway, with graveside services immediately following at El Camino Memorial Park, 5600 Carroll Canyon Road, San Diego. The family is asking if people wish to donate money in lieu of flowers, they may do so by donating to the Red Cross Katrina Victims Fund. Please sign the guest book at obituaries.uniontrib.com

Hi Sissy!

Missing you a lot right now with the holidays approaching. I visited you yesterday and watered your Christmas tree that we left at the cemetery. I know that Christmas in heaven must be a beautiful thing... Just wanted you to know that I love you and that I was thinking about you.

Love from your big sister.

Christine was my random roommate freshman year at USC. I vividly remember the Top Gun poster and her p/t clothes. There began my 20 year friendship; how lucky was I then, I didn't know. Christine has always been one of my very favorites. I'm having a very difficult time with her passing. I loved her perspective, her attitude, her optimism, and her sincerity. Christine was always very genuine and real. How refreshing!! I will miss her friendship so so so very much. My heart aches.

My thoughts and prayers are with Aaron and her family. xoxo, Sandra

Dear family of Christine - as former "neighbors" from PQ, our hearts sunk when we saw that you had lost your loved one. . .

We would like to send our condolences at your terrible loss. Our son Gregg - a classmate of Christine's in the class of '86 at MCHS - also died unexpectedly last March. It is so sad to lose young people, especially those who loved life so!

We will be thinking of you and sending our thoughts and prayers!

To Aaron and Family,

Christine was always so sweet and nice to everyone. We played softball and went to Mt. Carmel together. I was so shocked to her what happened. It makes you really think it could be any one of us that God decides to take. I feel bad that this happened to such a wonderful woman. I give you my deepest sympathy.
