David Fuentes Obituary

FUENTES, DAVID CERECERES A Life Well Lived David Cereceres Fuentes was the seventh child born (at home) to Matias and Cleofas Fuentes on September 23, 1940. A life long resident of San Diego, David graduated from San Diego High School in 1959. He then established himself as a master craftsman, designing and building cabinets. His career spanned over 20 years until the Lord revealed his true calling. David fell in love with Darlene Marie Dacheff in 1975 and together they have raised six children. Like Jesus, David moved on from carpentry to becoming a "fisher-of men". God grew him from a humble Bible study leader at Horizon Christian Fellowship, into an ordained minister of the Gospel through World Impact Ministries. Along the way, Pastor David touched countless souls during his tenures at Horizon South Bay, Horizon Inner-City, and Inner-City Christian Fellowship. David's gift and passion for music graced his ministry and worship. His pastor's heart was never more evident than in his dedicated service to the inmates at Donovan State Prison. Always available to provide counsel and prayer, his flock was never left unattended. On July 31, 2005, our Lord allowed his faithful servant, David, to rest from his labor. His spirit and mentoring are clearly visible in the saints he has left to carry on the Great mission. Our beloved brother's gentle spirit, generosity of heart, and artistic and adventurous nature were all demonstrated in his devotion to his extended family and friends. We will greatly miss those camping trips, lake fishing, practical jokes, his big smooches, our "walking concordance", the late-night talks, his famous barbacoa, 'hi and bye' kisses, and Papa Bear hugs. He leaves to cherish his memory his precious wife Darlene; three sons: David (Elizabeth), Andy and Tony; three daughters: Debbie, Nena (Steve), and Hannah; six grandchildren: David Jr., Joshua James, Alyssa, Stephen II, Joshua Michael and Ryan; two brothers: Ray and Sam; four sisters, Frances, Mary, Naomi and Esther; and a host of relatives and friends. David is now reunited with his parents and two brothers, Matias Jr. and Steve. All are invited to attend a Celebration of Life, 10 A.M., Friday, August 5, 2005 at the Paseo del Rey Church, located at 900 Paseo del Rey Way in Chula Vista, California. The viewing will be Thursday, 4 P.M. to 9P.M. at the same location. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Fuentes Family Memorial Fund. Dear Pastor Dave,

What a loss for us, but what a joy for you to be in the presence of the Lord! I envy you! You were a wonderful sheperd for God'speople...so loving, kind, wise, great

humor, and a true servant! You were also a super friend and grandpa figure to many. Luci said she will miss you watching the Christmas play practices. Your kind and gentle ways with all will be missed, your sermons and the great music you made with your family. What a blessing you were to soooooo many people. You took sooo many of us into not only God's family but your family as well. Our family misses you so much! Our prayers are with those you left behind. Much love, Curt, Ann, and Luci

My dad was an awesome guitar picker. He picked so beatifully to any song we played together. Our guitars blended so nicely every time we played a song. Whenever my mother joined in and sang with us, I was always amazed on how well their voices blended and harmonized together. I am so thankful for the songs and strums he taught me.

I thank GOD for my Pastor David, GOD used him to tell me it was ok to take the job that I have now. I don't think I would have taken it if he did'nt ok it. Darlene, Nena, Steve and family, you guys know that I will never have a teacher like him again. He had a lot of patience, now that I know. I dropped his ears so many times, that I lost track. He was always there when I had questions and questions, ect...... We love and miss you very much, Pastor, from the three of us at home. You know he's saving us our crowns! Always remember that you're being prayed for.

Darlene, Nena, Steve, Steven, Joshua, Ryan and all of Pastor Dave's extended loving family: We only met Dave in passing as neighbors, but knew there was something special about him from the first instant. Our deepest sympathies for those he left behind to grieve, but GOD is GREAT! Rejoice that Dave is in his Father's house and he'll no doubt build you all your own quality thrones while he waits for you to

catch up! God bless you all in your loss.
