David A. Hurt, Jr. April 26, 1926 - April 14, 2016 Coronado David A. Hurt, Jr. of Coronado, CA died peacefully with his family at his side on April 14th, 2016 in San Diego, CA. The son of Capt. David A. and Katherine Burbidge Hurt, David, Jr. was born on April 23rd, 1926 in Newport, Rhode Island. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Eva Moore Hurt and granddaughter, Elizabeth Hurt Yoensky. He is survived by his wife, Vilma of Coronado, CA; two brothers, Thomas of Annapolis, MD and Jonathan Alexandria, VA. He is also survived by four sons: David A. Hurt, III, and wife, Jennifer of Potomac, MD; Douglas M. Hurt and wife, Nanci of Gaithersburg, MD; Donald J. Hurt and wife, Vicki of South Riding, VA; Dennis B. Hurt and wife, Jane of Greer, SC. He also leaves 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two stepsons; and one step daughter. A graduate of the US Naval Academy in 1948, he became a Naval Aviator with service in several duty stations including: Pensacola; Corpus Christi; Roosevelt Roads; Whidbey Island; Monterey; Jacksonville; Lakehurst; Brunswick; Pearl Harbor; and the Pentagon. Following the Navy, he worked for the Northrop Corporation before retiring to Winter Springs, FL. After the passing of his wife, Eva, he remarried and lived the past ten years in Coronado, CA. Friends and family can celebrate his life during a Memorial Service on Saturday April 23rd at 1:00 PM in the Coronado Congregational Church. The service will be held in the village school auditorium on H Ave. between 6th and 7th Sts. in Coronado, with a reception to follow. His interment will be into Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
