Donald Dilworth Obituary

Dilworth, Donald R. ESCONDIDO -- Dr. Dilworth, 95, was best known in Escondido for his medical practice. He liked to tell people that he lived three lives. He was a missionary to the Quichua Indians of Ecuador for almost 20 years in the 1950s - 1960s. Then, he came to Escondido and had a family practice for about 30 years. Then, he retired for another 25 years while he continued to run in races around the world until his 90s. Dr. Dilworth had advanced degrees in medicine, and in theology. He was a pastor for the local church in Idyllwild before leaving for Ecuador. The Dilworth boys were born and reared in Hemet, California. A memorial service will be held at Emmanuel Faith Community Church on Friday, February 6th, at 3:00 p.m.

Dr. Donald Dilworth was a friend of my grandparents (Juan Naula and Tránsito Guacho) and father, José, in El Troje community, Chimborazo, Ecuador. I couldn´t have the opportunity to meet Dr. Donald in person, but I know about his passion to service through the books. Currently, I am a graduate student at the University of Florida and studying the impacts of the missionaries in Quichuas communities in Chimborazo. I would like to be in contact with family or other relatives of Dr. Dilworth. Thank you much for your help. My email is [email protected]

I was doing some research on my Grandfather Federico Martinez who was the Governor of Chimborazo, Ecuador. I came across an article which states you were both friends. I admire the work you did as a Missionary helping Ecuadorians. Fly high in the heavens Dr. Dilworth
