Dorothy Mason Obituary

MASON, DOROTHY K.
Dorothy K. Mason (Dottie or Dorth), almost 99 years old, beloved Aunt and Godmother, passed from this earth on January 12, 2008 to be with her God, whom she loved so much. One of seven children, Dorothy was born January 30, 1909 in Hancock, Michigan. She drove to California in 1936 with her mother and sister, settled in and never looked back. Dorothy married Marine husband, Taylor, in 1940, transferred to Hawaii in 1941, but left shortly before the attack on Pearl Harbor. An avid Padre baseball fan for 25 years, her favorite player was Tony Gwynn. She read the newspaper every day beginning with the sports page and ending with the crosswords. Dorothy is survived by her nieces and nephews, Joe Roberts, Mary Kay Nottoli (Albert), Richard Kratt, William (Maureen) Kratt, Pat Silverwood (John) and Marcy Hall (Jim). Dorothy was full of love for her family and will be greatly missed by us all. Our last, sweet memory was Christmas Day, waving the Wii remote back and forth while Wii "bowling," egged on by great-grandniece, Allegra, and great-grandnephews, Colin and Lance. Services for Dorothy will be held at Mother of Confidence Church on Friday, January 18, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. She will rest in peace with her husband at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Dorothy's memory to Meals- On-Wheels.Please sign the guest book at obituaries.uniontrib.com

I recognized your aunt's name. I'm from Hancock MI and it must have been her brother, Rance Mason who ran the PIC theater. It sounds like she had a wonderful, full life. My sympathies to the family during this difficult time. God Bless.

We were saddened to read about Dorothy's passing. She and TP were my mother and father's (Edward and Anne Deegan) best friends for many years. We knew them well.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. May your memories bring you comfort.
