Edward Joseph Valenzuela

Ed passed peacefully, with the help of hospice, after a tough few years of battling cancer. Ed is survived by his loving wife Mary Ann, daughters Desiree and Danielle, sons Eddie and Erick, sisters Brenda and Sandra, his brother Jim and many cousins, nephews and nieces.Born in Phoenix, Arizona, Ed arrived with his family in 1957 and grew up in what was called East San Diego. A 1967 graduate of Saint Augustine High School, Ed loved to hunt with his dad, brother, friends and Uncle Glen. When the Padres or the San Diego Chargers, or for that matter, the S.D Rockets and Gulls played at the Sports Arena, "Murph" or Petco, Ed would be there or in front of the TV, cheering on his home teams. Ed, after a 30 plus year career at Vons/Safeway, retired to help take care of his parents, Mary and Joe Valenzuela, until their passing.Ed also loved to drive to Barona to play games and socialize with his buddies, only after he had worked tirelessly to make his front and back yards look like they were a park. Ed enjoyed and was at peace when he was gardening, but he always made time for a margarita when his brother visited to watch games.Ed, a loving father, brother, cousin and uncle, will be sorely missed by all who were fortunate enough to have met such a generous, fun-loving person.
