ELLA WHITNEY Obituary

WHITNEY, ELLA EMMALINE Ella, 77, peacefully passed of natural causes on February 27, 2013, surrounded by loved ones. Born in Chattanooga, TN, on November 10, 1935, Ella moved as a child to San Diego, CA, and last year moved to Helena, MT. Her final days were filled with tender love and kindness. Ella strode in time to her own rhythm. She was unique, graceful, enchanting. A poet and a dreamer. In her words, "I fell for it all. Language. Rhyme. Sound. Texture. Taste. The lift and fall of words; the sound they made. The spring which was tapped in those early days were I think, ineluctable." Her beautiful spirit is remembered by those who remain; her children, Linda (Homer) Christopher, Rebecca (Steven) Wilke, and Tamara (Scott) Kottas; brother Leon Tittle; grandchildren John, Michelle, Ryan, Jared, Kyle, Kody, Kacey and Kameron; great-grandchildren Don and Corey; brother-in-law William Morrisette; many nieces and nephews; and companion Filemon. Flowers and memorials maybe sent to Greenwood Memorial in San Diego, CA, where funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 9th, at 2 p.m. Condolences may be sent online at aswfuneralhomes.com or greenwoodsandiego.com where fond memories of Ella may be shared.
