Elsie Weiss Obituary

WEISS, ELSIE KAMINSKY Elsie Kaminsky Weiss, a longtime resident of San Diego and previously Coral Gables, Florida, passed away Friday, June 5, 2009, at her home in Rancho Bernardo. She was born in Pinsk, Poland on December 1, 1918, and emigrated to the United States in 1926. Elsie attended Glenville High School in Cleveland, Ohio, prior to being married to Jerry Weiss on March 6, 1938. Elsie and Jerry moved from Cleveland to Coral Gables, Florida, in 1951 and subsequently moved to San Diego in 1982 to be nearer her children and grandchildren. Elsie was a woman of great compassion and warmth who lived for her children and grandchildren. Her social life revolved around the synagogue where she was an active participant. Elsie received an award from the Sisterhood of Temple Adat Shalom for her outstanding contributions. She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Jerry, and is survived by her two sons, Mr. Martin L. Weiss and Dr. Stuart R. Weiss, both of Carlsbad. In addition, Elsie is survived by her five grandchildren, Mark, Robert, Scott, Damien and Justin Weiss, and three great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Elsie Weiss in care of Temple Adat Shalom, 15905 Pomerado Road, Poway, California 92064. A Memorial Service was held at Temple Adat Shalom on Monday, June 8, 2009.

Stuart and Marty--please accept my condolences on the loss of your mother. She must have been a wonderful person. It sounds as if she lived a full and rewarding life.
