Erin McKenzie Steiner

Erin McKenzie Steiner (nee Holman) passed away peacefully at home on April 25 following a five year journey battling breast cancer that had metastasized to her brain.
Erin was born in San Antonio, Texas, and lived in Spain for four years with her family before moving to Solana Beach at the age of nine, where she grew up and graduated from Torrey Pines High School in 1986.
An accounting major graduate at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, she met and married her husband, Derek Steiner, and obtained her CPA license. She was associated with several public, private accounting and private business firms; most recently Pacific Science and Engineering, and made lasting friendships at each location.
Always an athlete, Erin played championship soccer at Torrey Pines and represented Cal Poly in both soccer and competitive cycling where she met her husband Derek, and she continued to stay active in both sports for many years.
She is survived by her husband Derek, daughter McKenzie, son Thomas, her parents Colin and Victoria Holman, her brother Derek (Christina) and niece and nephews Ava, Breccan and Davis.
In each of her many roles as wife, mother, daughter, sister, granddaughter, aunt, niece, sorority sister, sister-in-law, athletic teammate, co-worker and neighbor, she brought to each relationship a beautiful smile, empathetic understanding and connection that formed lasting bonds.
Unfailingly conscious of all the love and encouragement she received over the past years, her final words were "Thank you."
A celebration of life, casual dress reception will be held on Saturday, July 29, at Solana Beach Presbyterian Church, Debin Hall, at 11:00AM.
