Eugene Miles Chubb

1930 - 2022

Eugene "Gene" Chubb passed away peacefully at the age of 91 in his Santee home on February 3, 2022. Gene was born in San Diego, California on August 19, 1930 to Harry and Jane Chubb. He remained a devoted East County resident throughout his life, attending Grossmont High School and studying Accounting at San Diego State University. In 1952, he joined the U.S. Army to aid in the United States effort during the Korean War and attained the rank of sergeant.

Following his military service, Gene joined his family's business, La Mesa Block, Co., which manufactured concrete block. In 1966, La Mesa Block merged with Revolutionized Concrete Products, Co., to become RCP Block and Brick, Inc.

For over seven decades, Gene remained dedicated to the development and prosperity of the masonry industry, the East County community, and countless community organizations. He was elected President of the Concrete Masonry Association of California and Nevada seven times, more than any other individual. He was inducted into the NCMA Hall of Fame in 2016. He held positions with the Santee Chamber of Commerce and the East County Economic Development Council. He donated his time and talents to the Santee-Lakeside Rotary Club and served on the Board of the Boys and Girls Club Foundation of East County.

Gene is survived by his children, Kimberly and Thomas (Karley), his grandchildren, Kirstin, Samantha, Trevor, and Devin, and his wife, Susan.

A funeral mass in Gene's memory will be held at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in El Cajon on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gene's memory can be made to the Boys & Girls Clubs of East County or City of Hope.
