Fred Neumeister Obituary

NEUMEISTER, FRED W. Fred W. Neumeister, 83, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2006 after a short illness. Fred, a long time resident of San Diego, recently relocated to Camarillo, California to be closer to his family. Born in Germany, Fred and family moved to San Diego, California at the age of three. He attended San Diego High School and San Diego State College, with a major in accounting. Employed briefly by Convair, Fred joined Kettenburg Marine where he worked in various management positions, including CFO, until his retirement at age 65. During his life, Fred was dedicated to the Lord, his wife, family, and his work. He was actively involved in many Christian activities during his life from Baptist Youth Fellowship to administering Mexican Medical Ministries after his retirement. He held various positions of leadership in the churches he attended, including trustee, deacon, moderator, Sunday school teacher and ministering to young adults. Some of his fondest memories of teaching included the college age group at Fairmont Baptist Church. Fred enjoyed music throughout his life and shared this love with his wife Frances. He played the trumpet, sang in the choir and shared his delight of John Phillip Sousa by encouraging all three children to play in the marching band. In recent years, Fred spent much of his volunteer time helping develop and build the Faith Bible Fellowship Church in Santee. From meeting in elementary school buildings to the final construction of the new church, Fred was dedicated to insuring that the church was built and that the Lord's work would continue. Fred was a great teacher, mentor and role model for his children. He ingrained into each of them core values and principles that have served them well throughout their lives. Fred is survived by his loving wife Frances, and their three children; Dr. David Neumeister and his wife Rita, grandsons Mark, Michael, and Mitchell; Jane Newkirk and grandchildren Matthew and Margaret; and Dan Neumeister and his wife Jacqueline and granddaughters Lisa, and Megan. Fred and Frances celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on November 16, 2006. A celebration of Fred's life is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, January 6, 2007 at the Faith Bible Fellowship Church in Santee. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Faith Bible Fellowship Church, 9971 Mission Gorge Rd., Santee, CA 92071. Please sign the guest book at obituaries.uniontrib.com
