George Brady is a friend and he always had a way of making me laugh. I enjoyed our lunch-time excursions to the local Asian food places and he would tell us about his trips to Indonesia and Fiji. I pray that George’s family can find peace with his early departure, and my condolences to his friends.

I was shocked and saddened when Dale called me with the news about George's untimely passing. Like many, I am still in disbelief. I met George through Dale in 1976 while George was working at Tower Records. Dale and I were just beginning our careers in surveying and George was soon to follow. In the years to come, the three of us spent a lot of time working together in the field covering a lot of terrain, much of it in the more rugged parts of the East County. George was tough, hard working and a lot of fun in the field. He was a good friend and I will miss his big smile and his roaring deep belly laughs. As we grew older and found our way into the office, we would often reminisce about those early days surveying. We didn't know how good we had it. My condolences and heartfelt sympathies go out to his family and friends, especially for my good friend, Dale, who has lost his best friend and traveling buddy. I take some solace in knowing that George lived life his way, by his rules, always looking for and finding adventure and then allowing us to live vicariously through him with those great stories.

I had the pleasure to work with George at the Water Authority for 9 years. I will miss the kind person, all of the belly-laughs that only he could create, tapping just some of his knowledge regarding music, movies and many other things, the Tower Record and Baja stories.
I feel fortunate to have known such a remarkable person and I will miss him dearly.
My condolences go out to his family and Ellen.

A flash back from the past seeing this sad news of George's passing. I knew George from Grossmont High School back in 1970-1974. I will always remember George as a kind, diplamatic soul with a smile on his face. My sympathy to all of his family and friends for the loss of this special person.

I had the privilege of working with George for 9 years at the Water Authority. We always talked about his adventures and the "mansion" in Mexico, and his salsafest made coming to work fun. George's understated humor and genuine interest and caring for all of us are things that I will always remember.

As an on-site consultant at the San Diego County Water Authority, I have come to know George both as an excellent worker and a fine gentleman. Whenever we met, he would call me "Julio," and I would call him "Jorge." I will surely miss George as a dear friend, and I will forever cherish the memories of him that I am most privileged to hold. Heaven just got a smiling, surfing surveyor on board.

George was my best friend and I feel like a big part of me has been swept away. The world is at a loss for his unique character and sometimes shocking humor. He knew how to take people on a guided tour outside thier normal realm with his provocative wit and endearing humor. George acted as a mentor to many, a shoulder to lean on, someone you could always count on, my travel partner, my boys buddy (and sometimes tormentor), always there for me in any pinch and so much more, I honestly do not know what I will do without him. My deepest sypmathy for all his friends and family.

George and I were lunch buddies. He was my first friend when I moved to San Diego 8 years ago and worked at SDCWA, and we remained close friends throughout the years. Only now do I realize how special and uplifting those lunches were and how much his positive attitude, great sense of humor, booming laugh and smile, and friendship made a difference. My deepest sympathy to his family, Ellen and friends. George, heaven is a brighter place with you in it and you will be greatly missed my friend!

George was like a father to me in many ways. He guided me in my career and always gave me valuable advice. I could talk to George about anything.
I will never forget our talks in his truck and out in the field. George always passed along a wealth of technical information to me, but more importantly we talked about life in general, religion, our hobbies/interests, and the best places to go for breakfast/lunch near the pipelines.
George's impact on me will never be forgotten and I celebrate what he has meant to me along with the many others he has touched.

George’s optimism, guidance, humor, foresight, and ability to make a difficult situation seem like a stroll on the beach are already missed. When you spoke with George, he was sincerely interested in what was going on in your life, both personal and professional. He was a great listener and always had a way of “grounding” people so that they remembered what the important things in life were. This was very apparent in George’s travels and many relationships that he built throughout his life. I was fortunate to have been able to work on many projects with George as well as spend time away from work discussing the important things in life. George, the next time that I am at Campo Lopez I will take 2 Coronas out to the rock, drink one and pour the other in the sea (maybe). You will be missed. My condolences to his family and friends.

George, although we were just acquaintances. Being a friend of Ellen's and seeing her in absolute agony from your passing I feel I must have missed out knowing one very good man. Reading all who signed this guest book confirms you were a good man and will dearly be missed. May you rest in peace and from time to time please peek in on Ellen from up there and just nudge her to live life to the fullest just like you did. Peace & Love.

My heartfelt condolences to George’s family and friends. I'll miss our conversations. He was like the ersatz therapist for me, and always had a nice, zen way of putting perspective on things we talked about. I could be freaking out about something, and George would be right there with a anecdote of his own life, or a similar experience a friend was having, and help me see that things always work out fine. He had an contagiously positive attitude, and was a genuinely caring friend. I'll miss you George; rest in peace.

As one of the many consulting firms that worked on projects for George we are saddened by his loss. As a client George was the best - a surveyor with the knowledge and experience to create a win/win result for our firm and for the Water Authority. All of us at RBF Consulting who knew him will miss him. He was a great guy and a consumate professional.

I worked with George at the Water Authority over 8 years ago. George was a fantastic guy with the best attitude...always a smile and a laugh. He had great stories of his surfing adventures in FIJI with his buddies. I remember going out on San Diego Bay with George and a few co-workers one night for a happy hour and dingie ride from a yacht that George would crew in his spare time. George also knew the best places for Mexican food. George you will be greatly missed! Safe Travels!

George and I worked on just a few small projects together at SDCWA. I could tell even though his work kept him busy, he lived a rich and adventurous life outside the office. Hurrah for you, George! George always had a smile for me and everyone else he worked with. While working together at Helix Water District, he taught me how to appreciate things outside of work and to enjoy family and our beaches. I'll miss his easy going style and infectious laugh. "Don't sweat the small stuff", he used to tell me. Thanks for everything - Aloha, George!

As all of you know George was a great guy to be around and just talk with. We shared many hours discussing great surf spots but most of our time was talking about salsa! George loved the hot stuff just as much as I. During one of our talks I remember telling George we sound like a couple of women sharing recipes...he said no just a couple friends who like the hot stuff... RIP George you will be missed.

George was on the interview committee that ultimately gave me my job at the Water Authority nearly 5 years ago. I had the pleasure of working with him on several of my projects, got to see lots of the S.D. backcountry during occasional fieldwork with him, got burned-up by his "nuclear-salsa" at one of his salsafests, and enjoyed the many meals we shared at the "exotic" restaurants he knew of. George will be sorely missed...
