Gerald Harvey Obituary

Gerald W. Harvey SAN DIEGO -- On Wednesday, August 5, 2015, Gerald W. Harvey went home to be with the Lord. He was 76 years old. Gerald, known as "Harv" to many friends, was born in 1938 in Sherman, Texas, to Roxie (Elmore) and Carl Harvey. As a young child, his family moved to San Diego and made it their home. Gerald was a faithful servant to all around him, never hesitating to help anyone in need. He was known for striking up conversations with everyone he met, everywhere he went. After retiring from a 38-year career with Sears, he followed his passion to create, building model windmills and an eclectic garden that includes a waterwheel, antiques, a water tower and a life-size windmill set among beautiful flowers and unusual plants. He also enjoyed traveling and was a faithful member of Pacific Hope Church. Gerald is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 55 years, Madalyn (Moore), daughters and sons-in-law, Lori and Thom Lamb, and Jill and Guillermo Tomaszewski, his sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Bob Bream, four grandchildren, many extended family members, neighbors, and countless friends. He was predeceased by his parents, and his brother, Billy Ray Harvey. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pacific Hope Church or to a charity of your choice. A Celebration of Life will be held at Pacific Hope Church.

I miss you Harv. No more sitting in the garage making windmills, drinking beer or being able to call you and you were always ready to help Shirley or I or in fact anybody who needed help.
Your rust will always be a reminder of your life.
God bless You, Madalyn, Jill, Lori and all the rest of the family

I am so saddened to read of Harv's passing in today's paper. I have so many wonderful memories of being a close neighbor to the Harveys for 14 years on Lake Ben Ave. Harv was always so friendly, with a smile on his face and passing out helpful tips with any appliances, whether they were from Sears or not. He and Madalyn were the GREATEST couple, and I always held them up as an example of two people REALLY in love and dedicated to each other and their daughters. I will always remember those happy times. I send Madalyn, Lori, Jill and their families lots of love and my heart, thoughts and prayers are with you all. Love, Andrea Silva

Dear Harveys,
Just another great memory - Gerald, Bill and Phil were transporting a giant truck tire to the brand new Palisades Preschool playground when it kept rolling down the steep hill into the canyon. The funniest part was that they did this same thing more than once!
Gerald was always willing to "walk the talk". Wonderful times! Wonderful guy.
