From book-binding to bromiliads, Horace knew more than I will ever hope to know - in this life or the next.
A gentle man who didn't go gently - it was my honor and to my very good fortune that he shared with kindness so many moments with me.

Horace also belonged to a little-known but proud group known as the Maritime Research Society. We met monthly on the lower decks of the tall ship Star of India.
I'll always remember him as a little man with a big heart. And his mind was as deep and voluminous as his famous book collections.
Many a time he had my back in discussions about maritime history or meeting protocol.
You could count on Horace to be quick with the good questions and improvement-minded suggestions but, unlike most, he always came prepared with answers and solutions, and a willingness to make things happen.
He will be deeply missed but I take comfort in knowing he has joined Lillian in the House of the Lord. Bless you old friend.

Horace was a special man - gentle and funny and smart. He and Lillian were such a wonderful couple. Now they will lie together again forever. Would you kindly let us know when the memorial will be - email to [email protected]. John and Horace worked on 4 Brand Books together.
