HUBERT McCULLOUGH Obituary

McCULLOUGH, HUBERT Known as Mac to his many friends, he was born May 23, 1923, in Gardena, California, to Charles and Laura McCullough. He passed on February 3, 2013, in Hemet, having lived in Southern California just short of ninety years. Dad grew up in the Otay area, graduating from John J. Montgomery Elementary and Sweetwater Union High School. He entered the U.S. Merchant Marine Service in 1942. During WWII, he served with the Merchant Marine in the Atlantic, Mediterranean and Pacific war zones. Mac married the love of his life, Pearl Marie Campos, in San Francisco on November 19, 1945. Mom was a student nurse at Mount Zion hospital at the time. After his discharge from the Merchant Marine, the two of them moved to Otay to raise their family. Dad returned to Rohr Corporation, Chula Vista, where he worked for forty-two years. Most of that time as an electronics technician. Dad was known for his vegetable gardens. He was particularly proud of the sweet corn that he grew. Mac also enjoyed the outdoors, never failing to guide the family on several camping trips each year. Our many trips to the Meling ranch and to coastal Baja California for fishing and camping were particularly memorable. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Albert and Robert. He leaves behind Pearl, his beloved wife of 67 years; two brothers, Roy and Frank; a sister, Hazel; three sons, Arthur, Charles and Timothy; seven grandchildren, Tamara, Jamelle, Thomas, Andrew, James, Michael and Jessica; and three great-grandchildren, Colt, Silas and Tobias. Viewing: February 12, 2013, from 5-9 p.m. at Little Chapel of the Roses, Glen Abbey, 3838 Bonita Road, Bonita, CA. Services will be held on February 13, 2013, starting at 1:00 p.m., Little Chapel of the Roses, Glen Abbey, and immediately followed by interment, also at Glen Abbey. Call 619-585-4600 for information.

It's a privlege to meet good caring people like Mac and Pearl and I praise them for helping their neighbors like they did in the community of the San Diego Country Estates. Memories are gifts and may they provide peace and comfort to the entire McCullough Family during this difficult time. Pearl, Mac lived a long life and reflecting on your 67 years together will surely bring you smiles in sad times. Godspeed Mac.

"MAC" not only took good care of his family, he cared for his Community, along with wife Pearl. I admired their values to 'stand up & speak up' for those good values to help make it a better place to live. We have all lost a 'good man'. Thank you MAC, God rest your soul.
