I will cherish the memory of my friend Buzzie forever. She is the very core of my childhood memories. She and the Edgerton Gang were my best friends from my earliest Kindergarten days through high school. Buzzie was a shining gem - an honest, sincere and loving person - who's spirit will live on in everyone's hearts and all that she touched.
May 26, 2012
I always think of Buzzie when I go to Rachel's Women's Center downtown. She recommended it to me as a place of donations for women's clothing as they help out women trying to get on their feet.....for free. Only someone with a big heart and compassion would know this. I am so sorry for your loss but know you had a truly wonderful marriage and friendship with wonderful memories.
Your friend, Patty Floyd

So sad. The world has lost one of the best human beings ever created. She was so helpful to me in my life, making a huge difference in the paths I took. I will be grateful to her for that, but even more for her gentle ways. I was a student at SDSU and knew her and I was a Sroptimist and worked with her so I got to see how competent, how caring, how much fun she could be. I doubt she ever hurt a person in her whole life. I loved her and admired her. Such a loss, so sorry Jim.

Words are difficult to express the loss of my friend, Janice. Her support and friendship over so many years meant so much to me. I will miss her wonderful sense of humor, her intelligence, her laugh. After such a long and difficult struggle to stay alive, I hope that she has new found some peace.

Buzzie,
"As you danced in the light with joy, love lifted you.
As you brushed against this world so gently, you lifted us."
What a friend and teammate! We played soccer, softball & over-the-line together in my years in San Diego. A truely exceptional human being, who I considered a friend close to my heart. My prayers to Jim and the Minor family. I will remember Buzzie for the rest of my life.

Buzzie was one of the sweetest people I've known...always a smile on her face...such a positive personality!! Met her through the Charger Cheerleader "organization", but also knew her @ SDSU. I was a freshman, while at the same time my mom (Bette Lord)was a grad student in the Art Department...Buzzie followed my mom's progress all the way to her Master's Show on "the mesa". She was very special!!

Janice was an inspiration to me and so many others. I could never thank her enough for her guidance when I first came to SDSU. Not only a colleague, but a friend and confidant who listened when I needed an ear and lifted my spirits when times were low. I am blessed to have known her and will truly miss her. She is gone far too soon.

Buzzy will be missed for so many reasons, not the least of which was her sense of humor. Always a good one for a quick joke, the few years I knew her in Soroptimist La Mesa were years I would not trade. Rest in peace, sweet friend.

Janice (Buzzy) was truly a Soroptimist at heart. She loved helping women and was always helping the club out with her professionalism and eagerness to serve. Her award winning newsletter helped keep Soroptimist International of La Mesa in the know and let others know about them.

I did not get to know Buzzie until about 10 years ago - I started playing soccer on the Peninsula Women's soccer teams and played against Buzzie and her team several times. She was a very good soccer player and very nice person who always had a kind word. I wish I would have gotten to know her better and now it is too late.

I'm so deeply sorry to read this news. Janice helped me negotiate my way through my undergraduate studies in the SDSU Art Dept. during the 1990's, always with patience, great energy, and a big smile. The term, "multi-tasking" was coined for her! I once told her she reminded me of an octopus...on the phone, students and faculty at her desk, handling it all, keeping the ship upright. Later when I taught for the Dept., her great attention to details and positive guidance helped make me successful. Thank you, Janice!

It is a very real tragedy that Buzzie's life is cut short. She always did her best, with wonderful results. I hope she understood the many ways she was an inspiration to everyone who knew her, and that we loved her. Janice was brave and strong, going back to her earliest days of her responsibilities in the Art Office. She was a defender of women (and men) in a time when harassment was rampant. She was wise beyond her years, and wise enough to maintain a keen and refreshing sense of humor. I will always think of you with love, Janice/Buzzie! Our hearts go out to Jim and to all family and friends.

Retirement allows us only occasional news about friends at SDSU. We are both saddened to read of Jan's passing. I had the privilege working with Janice (and her partner in crime, Joyce Corpuz) for 2 years. Although you couldn't see it on the org chart, Janice enjoyed a special status at SDSU. She could get things done because of the respect with which she was held by her colleagues throughout the University. If there's a special Aztec section in heaven, I've no doubt that Janice has already got great seats.

Dear Jim L. and the Minors,
Buzzie was an incredible gal and so much fun to be with. I loved her dry wit and loving nature. Although, I didn't know her well until the last few years, I felt an immediate friendship with her; she was that kind of person. This is a very sad time for everyone, but the memories of her will be full of good times and fun experiences. My love and heartfelt sympathy to all of you.
