JEFFREY KEYWAN Obituary

KEYWAN, JEFFREY SCOTT June 18, 1954 to May 1, 2012 Jeff was an avid outdoors man with an adventurous spirit. Raised in La Mesa, but spent many years in Lake Tahoe and Colorado, skiing, hunting, fishing, hiking. From the time he was a boy he had a passion for the sea and fishing and began his time on the boats at H&M Landing where he eventually realized his dream of becoming "Captain" of the "Spirit of Adventure". He and the boat spent many years in Hawaii before bringing it back to San Diego. Jeff was incredibly talented in so many ways. He was an amazing "Handyman" and for the past 15 years ran his own business. He was a true lover of animals, and they loved him, especially his dog, Ty. Jeff and his wife reside in Lakeside, CA. Jeff will be sadly missed by his friends and family. He is survived by his wife, Kathy, and her children, Jesse Passmore, Kristy Passmore Younghusband, and their spouses and grandson, Drew Passmore. His mother, Villia Jean Keywan, (predeceased by his father, George), and two sisters, Kim Etherton and Heather Brinkman, their spouses and nephews Chase and Brett Etherton. A memorial honoring Jeff's life will be held on Sunday, May 6th, at 1 p.m. at Tunaman's Memorial on Shelter Island Drive. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: American Liver Foundation, 2515 Camino del Rio S #122, San Diego, CA 92108 or go. liverfoundation.org/goto/JK

Like what Capt. Trask said, while I was the Spirit skipper, Jeff was always my "go to" guy, for whatever needed to get accomplished. We had a lot of fun on the boat, from the trips from the mainland to Hawaii, and all the times running along the Kona Coast and inter-island. I was saddened to recently hear about Jeff's passing, and am so sorry I was not present for his memorial.

Jeff was one of my most courageous and professional crewmen when we launched the Spirit. I always knew Jeff had our backs no matter how tough the situation. I am happy we were able to talk in the months before he left us; but I had no idea he was ill. I will always hold his heart next to mine.

Jeff taught me how to fish. I have pictures of us cleaning the twelve Yellowtail we caught off the Coronado Islands. His heart of gold will long be remembered!
