It was 40 years+ that a circular floated down in front fo my wife's feet as we were leaving mass one Sunday. She looked it over and said that I might be interested in it. The circular announced that there was to be an Inner Healing Workshop at Serra High School with Fr. Jerry Bevilacqua. I had been reading books on healing and so I went to see how God works through His Holy Spirit. On the morning of the first day of the workshop, Fr. Jerry asked if we would all pray for him and he sat down at a table in the front of the classroom. Then our eyes met and he motioned for me to come forward and pray for him. I stood behind him and I wasn't sure what I was to do. My hands were open -- a few inches away from the top of his head --and he reached back--grabbed my hands and placed them on his head. I did not pray aloud, but when it was over, it was over. It was the start of something big. I later received the gift of tongues along with some inner healing issues and the encompassing love of God.
Fr. Jerry was a giant of a man. I will never forget him....

I am writing a book and am I adding Father Jerry's name as one of my inspirations to pray for others. I learned so much in his classes for lay persons to pray for the sick. I just now went to look for his website to refer people to and found out He passed in 2016. My heart is breaking right now. I can't stop crying. I am frozen right now. He helped me sooooo much. I love this dear servant of God.
Life goes so quickly. We should always stay in contact, even if its just a little note to those who have blessed us in this life. Pray for me dear man of God...that I may pass on a some of the wisdom I learned from you. May I offer my condolences to all his fellow priests in the faith, brothers, sisters and lay people he has touched. God bless you all.

This Holy priest left an indelible mark on my heart, with bible cover that read, "Love letters to Jerry"! Very slowly I began to understand that perhaps those letters in scripture might be for me too. That maybe God really was love. For a time, through adolescent awkwardness I sang and played guitar for his masses. with that humility...he lit a candle in the darkness. Really loved and admired this man of God.

Can't say "Rest in Peace." I'm sure he's busy stirring up something in Heaven. God Bless you, Fr Jerry. Keep up the good work you started here on earth.

Father taught me how to pray, he was my first confessor. I felt my first miracle with his guidance. Today I was talking to a client/friend and Glen (my Friend) quoted Saint Thomas Aquinas. In turn a quote Father shared with me at my first Confession I shared with Glen today. Glens quote brought me back to Fathers prayer groups and monthly healing masses. His retreats out East in the High Desert. Glens quote today has been with me all day and I googled Father. I just found out he passed and I am blessed as we all are who crossed his path. Father Jerry Thank you. Jesus Thank you for sending me Fathers way.

It has been some time since I heard about Fr. Jerry. I wanted time to think but didn't as my life has been so very difficult lately.

Fr. Jerry was referred to me by someone on one of his prayer teams when our family lived in Escondido. Fr. Jerry was the first person who understood my daughter and her ability to see spirits, good (those watching over us), bad, trapped for need of prayers. May daughter, Amy, has prayed for many a soul but needed help understanding everything she was seeing, hearing, feeling. She delved into her Catholic history, trying to understand but not listened to by family and some of our best friends. When we met Fr. Jerry and went to some of his meetings and healing services, some answers came to my daughter

It is very difficult to have the gift of seeing, hearing, feeling spirits. Fr. Jerry even shared with the group that his fellow Augustinian brothers did not understand him. When you have all these gifts plus the gift of healing, through the power of God, many do not understand and distance themselves, choose not to a part of your life, choose to be angry with what you are seeing.

This is what my daughter experienced from Catholic friends, who did not understand her gift and what Fr. Jerry experienced on a daily basis.

Fr. Jerry is greatly missed. I know God holds him in esteem with the saints.

Fr. Jerry pray for us. Thank-you.

Thank you Fr. Jerry for all you did in my life. The wonderful 6 day retreats will be missed. Having the opportunity to spend time on those retreats with God and you leading us closer to Him. I have been blessed knowing you. R.I.P. Rachel Arreguin

Jesus is welcoming Father Jerry back home.
Not too often does life change for me, but this is the pivotal moment I remember . . .
But before I go into that moment.

Strange how things return . . .
I'd walked away from surfing a few years back.

But I forgot how it had changed me. How it taught me to face my fears, to deal with things that I could not deal with. Lessons learned with perseverance for it is not easy to learn. And to rely on God and whatever abilities He gifted me to brave the ocean in all its good and craziness.

But during those great times, surfing merely opened a door to a greater good. In those silent times waiting for a wave, I heard the voices, whispers just above a solitude. God speaking in ways that I would get.

So last month, been getting back into surfing regularly. And saw how it melted stresses in my life away. Unlike surfing, getting saved by Jesus is way easier if one is ready to accept it.

I'd been born a cradle Catholic but questioned it during college, and just paid lip service to God while easing my pains in the night clubs of SD.

Through Father Jerry I saw the reality of God, Jesus, and Catholicism in a way that will forever cement my faith and take changed the course my destiny.

Sitting in his prayer groups watching stories come alive, ones that seemed far away and in deep in annals recorded in times past. Of how a Living and All Powerful God would move and the supernatural would rest upon the natural.

And the great war of good and evil, that happens on a unprecedented scale so grand it eclipses nearly everything but also is hidden until one is ready to accept the fact that every day humans participate in this.

Thank you for that moment that made me realize the reality of God, Father Jerry.

May this beautiful priest rest in peace. His Healing Masses were so comforting to those suffering and their families. He truly was a Man of God. Just knowing him was indeed a blessing.

It was my son's baccalaureate mass at Saints gym in June of 2006 and Fr. Bevilaqua gave a homily that probably went over the heads of most of the graduates and some of the young teachers seated in the rickety old gym that day. Some 30 years earlier this eccentric man, we referred to as Martian in high school, was my home room and religion instructor at Saints. Clearly, searching for the existential Christ and trying to figure out man's search for meaning was not a priority in our lives at that time. It became clear to me that day in the gym that Father was onto something that had eluded my understanding so many years earlier. At the encouragement of my brother I attended a men's prayer group and healing masses led by Fr. Bev at a time when I was searching for a little more spiritual guidance- Father finally started making sense to me. We need to seek Jesus and have Him be a part of our lives. Father was a tireless servant, eccentric and sometimes misunderstood, but always working for the good of God's kingdom.

I am so sorry for your loss. I know that losing a loved one is not easy, but our faith in God's promises can help us get through difficult times like this. I hope you will find comfort in God's promise at John 11:24-25. Knowing that there is a future for those we have lost in death can be very reassuring

Fr. Jerry was the best teacher I ever had in high school or college or anywhere and one of the most uniquely gifted individuals I have ever known. Knowing him changed my life. His tireless, unselfish service to the Church and to his fellow man will surely be rewarded.

Fr. Jerry
You were there when we needed help and you introduced us to the Holy Spirit.
We treasure the memories of those 12 or more years that we attended your Monday classes and joined in the monthly Healing Masses and servants meetings. Thank you Father for the strength that we get every day from the Holy Spirit.
You have gained your reward and may Your Soul Rest In Peace!

Psalm 145:1-2,10-11 - "I will extol you, O my God and King, and I will bless your name forever and ever. Every day will I bless you and I will praise your name forever and ever. ...Let all your works give you thanks, O Lord, and let your faithful ones bless you. Let them discourse of the glory of your kingdom and speak of your might, making known to men your might and the glorious splendor of your kingdom." Fr. Jerry lived these sacred words of Scripture. He burned with the love of the Holy Spirit within and truly honored the calling of his priesthood with his life. His gifts were a gift to all of God's people and they overflowed onto us. God speed Fr. Jerry. You will be missed beyond words. I thank my Lord deeply for having placed you in my life. In gratitude and love,
