Jimmy H. Heimann SAN DIEGO -- Jimmy H. Heimann, Entrepreneur, member of the Greatest Generation, passed away peacefully in San Diego on August 18, 2015. He was born on June 29, 1923, to Emanuel and Cora Heimann in Chicago, Illinois, and raised on the north side of Chicago. He went off to Grinnell College with his tux and tails in 1941, his studies interrupted by World War II, where he served in the South Pacific in the Army Air Corps. He later attended the Art Institute of Chicago and Northwestern University. His working life included a position in his family's business, H. Heimann, a junior department store at 613-615 North Clark Street in Chicago. He joined Reynolds & Co Stock Brokerage in 1955, became a senior account adviser and retired in 1976, moving to San Diego to watch over his parents, Emanuel and Cora Heimann. He enjoyed California weather, tennis, running, beaches, keeping physically fit daily at a San Diego gymnasium, and performing with the PJ Country Dancing Group at hospitals, convention centers and the Del Mar Fair. He was a Friend of the Library and an active member of Congregation Beth Israel. Jimmy's long time friend, Liza Zinola, provided extraordinary assistance to him. Jimmy is beloved by many dear friends in San Diego who will remember his wit, his warmth, and the sparkle in his beautiful, blue eyes. Survivors include two sons, Jimmy L. and Scott R., a brother, E. Herman Heimann, Jr., and many dance partners. Interment at Cypress View Mausoleum, San Diego.
