When news got to me about his condition it hit hard it hit like a hammer to nail and drove pain into me, pain that this is it. Life, reality struck me quick i let something good slip threw my fingers It was like i watched the rope slip threw my fingers and didnt hold on. What i mean is i didnt spend enough time, not as much time as i would have liked. i wanted to be part of his life more. He was absolutely wonderful . i really admired his humor and his personality. Everything just always seemed good with him. He always seemed content. His smile and laughter always brighten things. Now reading everything and hearing everything about him and looking at pictures and hearing the stories behind it makes me feel...makes me want a life like his. A life with no regrets a life of love and a life of adventure. He's truley an inspiration and i wish more then anything that i could go back in time and really got to know him better got to know his wisdom got to laugh with him. I just wish he knows how much i truly respected him. And how much he's taught us all and how much he's helped us grow. He's touched many lives and wants us to do good and live life the way life should be lived.

My respect for this man has been so high, ever since I was a little boy and looking up and my grandfather, hearing his life stories while visiting him, and just being around him. I will never forget the love he had for his family, especially my grandmother. I can only hope to learn from that, and 61 years from now look back at my wife and remember the love my grandparents shared. We miss you so much grandpa, you will always be close in my heart.

Joe Fitzgerald our grandfather our great-grandfather, lieder of all our family, he showed us to love our family to be strong in moments like this, to be faithful to our spouse, to be good workers to be happy, that family is first, to save money to be proud of our selves, and showed us respect for our elders etc. with all this you can see he did a wonderful job being there for us, and giving his unconditional love, He was a wonderful loving person and hi will never be forgotten.
We love you GRANDPA and always will!!!!!!!
And Grandma please be strong we love you very much!!!!!

To my dear Aunt Pat. Please know that our hearts and prayers are with you. You two were such a "couple"...your love for each other was apparent to everyone. We have such great memories of you together (remember the circus in Mexico, us coming to see you in Iowa on the Harley, your visits to my Mom & Dad here in Paso) those will be with us always. Much love to you, I am glad I was able to give you a hug yesterday! Come and see us again soon, only stay longer next time.

The world has lost a true man. A man that loved his family and enjoyed every moment of his life. I know this because Steve, his son, spoke so highly and so often of his father. I felt as though I knew him even though I only met him once. May all of his family rest in the wonderful memories of him and my prayers are with you all.
