With time memories fade away, but with Lisa--with her characteristic generosity of spirit--the warmth of the memories of spending Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas with Lisa's family becomes more palpable :-)

Dear Anthony, Carol, and Tom,
It's shocking to hear Lisa is no more. I'm struggling to believe it. Lisa made me feel like I was part of your family; it was her generosity of spirit that made me feel like I was at home during all my years at Salk. She truly was an embodiment of large spirited; her warmth makes it all the more hard to come to terms with her passing. I still vividly remember all the Christmas holidays I was fortunate to spend with her. It must be very hard on you. I hope and pray you find comfort in the fond memories of your shared experiences.
Yours,
posina

Not a day goes by that I don't think about my little Lisa. I have never known someone so fiery, passionate and intelligent, all rolled into one. When I moved away, I wouldn't have any communication with her for months on end, but when I came back to SD, her reaction to seeing me made me feel like the most important person on earth and like not a day had gone by since I last spoke to her. I adored her.

I will always think of her, especially when reading The Giving Tree to my children. She once told me that she hated that book because she could never read it without crying, so I bought a copy for Anthony. Oh boy was she unamused when he insisted she read it to him every night for awhile! I recently found my copy that she gave to me, as revenge I suspect, on the birth of my first child; complete with an inscription from her telling me never to forget her. I won't, Lisa!

Anyone who knows Lisa knows that these words from Jane Austen say it all:
“There is nothing I would not do for those who are really my friends. I have no notion of loving people by halves, it is not my nature.”

We miss you Little Lise!
Love, Tina

I met Lisa in the Book Works and joined the classics book group. I was drawn to her love of reading, her enthusiasm for the Book Works, and her warm and endearing presence. I loved our Saturday morning discussions over coffee and pastries. The group has held together over the years and we will continue on in Lisa's memory.
