Mary Brennan Obituary

BRENNAN, MARY LYNN Mary Lynn "Lynn" Brennan died on August 21, 2009, in San Francisco. She was 63. The older daughter of the late William and Brunelle Vipperman, Lynn married Grant Warren Brennan in 1964 following her graduation from Point Loma High. They promptly had two sons, Patrick and Michael. After Grant's suicide in 1972, Lynn returned to school. She first earned a bachelor's degree (in biology and psychology) from Pitzer College and then, in 1981, the Juris Doctor from Hastings College of the Law. The practice of property law rapidly became Lynn's passion, and she pursued its demands with brilliance. Just two years later, Lynn was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, and just another two years later, having become totally disabled, she retired from the practice of law. Lynn then volunteered her legal services to the disabled community, serving in that capacity as her declining condition allowed. Apart from two brief stints back in her native San Diego, Lynn lived in San Francisco since 1978. Though devastatingly deteriorated during her last years, Lynn remained firm in her Catholic faith, hopeful, and close in heart to her sons, Michael, 41, of Martinez, CA, and Patrick, 43, of Philadelphia, PA. Lynn's mortal remains will be scattered off the coast of Point Loma, joining there Grant's and those of many other Brennans. May the Lord have mercy on His long-suffering servant.

Dear Mike and Patrick,
I am so sorry to hear about your mom's death. She was such a lovely and courageous lady and a wonderful mother to you both. We were very fond of your whole family but lost track of where you had moved. To update you on my sons' lives: John who was a year younger than Patrick, now lives in Dallas and has 3 children, 13, 10 and 5; Jim, who was in class with Mike, is living in Charlotte, NC. and has 2 children, 5 and 3. Again, my deepest sympathy for your loss.
Sincerely, Mary Ellen Fleischli
