MICHAEL SMITH Obituary

SMITH, MICHAEL RAY Jan. 10, 1944 to Jan. 22, 2013 Michael Smith passed away at home on January 22nd, after a difficult battle with lung cancer. Michael moved to San Diego in 1961, where he graduated from Kearny High School in 1962 and attended San Diego City College. He was an Army veteran who served our nation in Vietnam from 1968 to 1969. Michael was a Title Officer in North San Diego County before moving to Las Vegas in the 1990s. He returned to Escondido upon his retirement in 2004 to be near his grandchildren. He is survived by his adult children, Karleen Harp and Aaron Smith; brother and sister-in-law, David and Betty Smith; three grandchildren, Nolan, Jordan and Nathan. Michael enjoyed collecting stamps and coins and growing succulents. His friends and family will miss his irreverent sense of humor and feisty personality. He will be cremated and his ashes laid to rest with military honors at Rosecrans National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a memorial donation to the American Cancer Society.

Yes, we will all miss that sense of humor, the laugh that said it all, and that smile for sure. And what impressed me the mot is your loyalty towards Mom and Dad as well. Since you got there before us, give the family my love. Barb
