Norma Tuttobene Obituary

Tuttobene, Norma Stauffer Norma was born on May 26, 1928 in Clayton, New Mexico, and died on November 18, 2013 at the age of 85 years. She married Robert (Toot) Tuttobene on January 30, 1971 between her first and second semesters at Southwestern College. Norma, with her three daughters (Cheri, Pam and Jodi), and her husband, Toot, with his two boys (Paul and Doug), successfully melded two families together when they married. To this day, they all survived her as do 14 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Norma went on to earn a Master's Degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology at San Diego State University. She worked in the Chula Vista City Schools for 15 years before she retired in June of 1992. Toot retired also in 1992 from General Dynamics Convair after working there for 37 years. They enjoyed their retirement years together a great deal. They enjoyed traveling to many countries and taking many cruises (31), before and during their retirement these past several years. Norma will be placed at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego. conradlemongrove.com

I first met Norma(Ms. Toot) as a new speech therapist in the Chula Vista Elementary School District. I appreciate the patience, mentoring and guidance she provided to those of us who were new to the field. My condolences to the family.

Mrs. Tuttobene was my 1st.to 3rd grade teacher about 23 years ago. I remember her being so much fun. I remember all of her students living her so much. My prayers and thoughts go out to her family tonight. She is deeply loved and missed.

Norma was my half-sister, but we did not meet until we were both adults. I regret that it took us so long to connect, for during the times we saw each other she was always brilliant, interesting and vivacious. I will miss her and am happy that she found such a wonderful husband and caregiver in Toot and had the support and love of her children throughout her life. My condolences to Toot and her family.
