Paul Lyman Miller

Paul Lyman Miller June 16, 1925 - January 10, 2017 El Cajon Surrounded by his family. Paul is survived by his wife Audrey, two of his three children, son Jim, daughter Deann, six grand children, and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by son Gary Miller at age 11. Born in San Diego, he attended Hoover High School and soon after graduation in 1944, he joined the US Navy flight training program as World War II was coming to a close. Paul met the love of his life, Audrey Louise Osborne, while roller skating together at the Trocadero on Broadway. Audrey, also from San Diego, and Paul were married for 71 years. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, he joined the San Diego City School District in the maintenance department and completed 38 years of service there retiring as the plumbing, heating and air conditioning supervisor. Paul loved his family, being a part of their activities through childhood, high school, and in later life. He was a popular Little League coach for many years and was one of the founders of the Pioneer Little League in Santee in 1958. The friends and memories developed from these years still exist today. He enjoyed sports and was an avid golfer. Though he enjoyed many courses playing with the Nomads Golf Group of San Diego, most of his golf was played at the Cottonwood Golf Club in El Cajon, including many years played on their Course Team Play competition. These golfers were among his biggest friends and companions. Paul is one of few people to shoot under his age at 71 and at age 73. Paul was always a lover of cars. He belonged to The San Diego Sports Car Club at an early age. All of his cars were admired by everyone and included an original MGTD and 1957 Chevy. The most important part of Paul's life though was his family. He was an outstanding husband, and father.
