The other day a Facebook memory popped up a picture of you, me and Cindy as we manned the grill for one of the Bannister House dinners our support group did. Sorry I did not save it . . .

Dear Carolyn and Family,
So so sorry to hear about the passing of both Cindy and Pete. Cindy had such a sweet spirit and great sense of humor. I still remember being in English class at Holy Angels with her and her reading her essay about your mom passing when she was in Junior High School. My heart went out to her and I also admired how brave she was to share that. She helped me to get my first job at Southdale Cinema. I have a lot of good memories of her. I only met Pete a couple of times, but remember him and how much Cindy loved him and how she mothered him. Your family has experienced a lot of pain, but also a lot of love. Hopefully, your love of God and each other is seeing you through the tough times. Praying you up!

Sending my sincere sympathy to the Konzen family in the passing of Pete and also Cindy. Cindy and I were in touch sporadically through the years and a constant theme to our conversations was the Konzen family. How loving, supportive, funny and down to earth you all are. I am heartbroken that I missed the news of Cindy and now Pete's passing. I have treasured memories of times in Mpls with Cindy, Carolyn, Pete and Tommy when I would visit from Rochester. You are so blessed to have an amazing family. With love, Susan McAdams (Sue McNeil)

I knew Pete as a brother to Carolyn and an uncle to Jake and Cole. He was awesome at both! He was a shining example of how to take a big bite out of life every day…to not sweat the small stuff and truly enjoy the important things in life - family and friends! His special relationship with Carolyn, aka "Goon", was a shining example of what family means. So very sorry for your loss. With love and prayers, Meliss

My thoughts and prayers are with all the Konzens and friends of Pete as you mourn his passing. I'm very thankful that Don and I had a chance to see him several months ago - thank you Carolyn & Andy for pulling off that impromptu family get together! I look forward to being with you all to celebrate his life - although I didn't know him well, I could sense that he had a kind and gentle spirit.

I feel so fortunate that I came know Pete through his sisters, Kathy and Kim. The yearly Christmas Parties at Kathy's home always included every member of this family group. Pete and I always carried on a long conversation about our yearly adventures and challenges. He was gentle, kind and humorous. I will miss him very much.

Pete - May 2008 schlepping around the NAWAW's in Yuma
October 16, 2014
Konz and Family,
As a member of NAWAW, I will remember all the stories about Pete from sister Kath. The poor guy had to schlep around the NAWAW's in May 2008 in Yuma, complete with his oxygen thing, as he provided his usual fun commentary on life. He was so cool that he merited honorary FNAWAW (friend) and BNAWAW (brother) of NAWAW...a distinction that so few attain. Right on, NAWAW BRO! You are beloved and missed! Jan

Uncle Pete,
You were always a positive and refreshing presence, you brightened the mood in any room you were in. You were the best Santa Claus I ever knew, and you always had the best jokes at Thanksgiving Dinner (I could hear them from the kids' table). I know you're looking down on us, snapping one liners from a better place. Keep on rockin, love you man.

Dear Pete,
So miss you and your one liners. Your courage and sense of humor were such an inspiration; especially in your final weeks. I know you are in a better place but it doesn't take away the ache in our hearts.
We will always carry your Spirit with us!
Love Kath and the kiddos

It was a very sad day when I heard that Pete passed. It was a pleasure to share the transplant experience with Pete, I enjoyed sharing experiences and stories with him. He was always willing to lend a hand, quick with a joke and happy to get others to laugh. My sympathies go out to his family and friends.
