Phoebe Meeks Obituary

Meeks, Phoebe May (Drottz) 1939 ~ 2013 EL CAJON - Phoebe Meeks passed away December 9, 2013. She was 74. She was born August 27, 1939 to Alma and Harry S. Drottz in Des Moines, Iowa and was a 1957 graduate of Lincoln High School. Phoebe married LCDR John Dennis Meeks, USN Retired. They were blessed with 54 years of marriage. They began a family together and were blessed with two sons. Serving together, they spent 32 years in the U.S. Navy in various Billet assignments in the U.S., Japan, and Guam. She worked her later years at the El Cajon Bowl and Parkway Bowl until she retired. She is survived by her husband, Dennis; sons, Edwin Earl of El Cajon, CA, and John Scott and his wife Jackie of Toledo, IA; grandchildren, Seaton Rae Carpenter of Ramona, CA, and Jared Mathew Meeks of El Cajon; brother, Carl Drottz of Iowa; step- mother, Pauline Drottz of Des Moines, IA; and several nieces and nephews from the Meeks and Drottz families. Final burial services will be at Mira Mar National Cemetery in San Diego, CA. Phoebe valued her friends and lovingly enjoyed her years living in California and her home in El Cajon.

I have known Phoebe for 53 years. She is my aunt. Things I remember ..... is her loving and caring ways. She always went out of her way to make someones day a pleasant one. She will be missed by many, and more by her family. My condolences to my uncle Dennis and to my cousins Eddie and Scott. I love and miss you dearly! But never forgotten!
