Ralph Peterson Obituary

Born in Wilson, New York. In 1934 he, his 3 sisters, and parents relocated to El Cajon, California where they lived for many years. Ralph graduated from Grossmont High School in 1947. In 1954, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in Worms, Germany. Ralph also graduated from San Jose State University with his bachelor's degree and earned his teaching credential at San Diego State University. He taught American history in the Sweetwater School District for 30 years. Ralph was an avid bicycle rider and often rode his bike to work and also up to Julian to work on his sister's and brother-in-law's cabin. In the mid 1980's, he joined the Knickerbikers Bike Club of San Diego, where he met his wife, Rona. They traveled around the world and had a wonderful life together, with his last trip to the wilderness of Alaska at the age of 94. Ralph loved his family and exploring the world. He is survived by his wife Rona, daughter Karen Peterson Butsko (Jay), grandchildren Elise and Grant, sister Brenda Gibson, best friend Carroll Rice, dog Bingo, and many nieces and nephews.
