Ray was my big brother who I didn't talk or see too much of over the last 7 years since I live in Arizona.
I know though he is at peace now and no longer in the pain he was in when I got the chance to visit him the last two times in the last few weeks of his life. For this I am so grateful. I had the chance to tell him I loved him every day even if I couldn't be there to tell him in person.
As sad as this might seem to most, my most treasured moment with him was the last time I saw him. His pain was so intense and I reached out to hold his hand and he grabbed mine and I whispered in his ear that I loved him so much and he squeezed my hand as hard as he could and he told me back as best that he could that he loved me too. These words were seldom spoken between us yet I always knew Ray did but I just took for granted we each knew.
The greatest thing my brother taught me is that having the last word (which is so important to most of us)in any conversation with someone you love is "I LOVE YOU". We just take it for granted way too often that we should just know this but words are as just as important as actions.
Ray, I love you and I think about you every day. I hope you get a chance to go riding on your harley with Jesus someday I know you would have the time of your life.
Your sister, Lisa

Went by the shop today and was very, very saddened to hear about Ray's passing. I've known Ray for 16 years, basically half my life, and really valued and appreciated all of his friendship and help over the years. Looked up to him. Really wish I had stopped by more often the last year. That's something I will regret.
Will really miss you, man. Hope you find everything you've dreamed of and, as was said, thank you, for being you.

What a shame to lose Ray. I only knew him as my mechanic, but he was always very friendly and professional. I never had to wait for service and he made sure to get us back on the road as quickly as he could. He went out of his way to make sure I got a ride home when I left my vehicles for repair during the last 7 or 8 years I've been going to Active Auto, and even offered me his Harley one day when I needed vehicle for errands. He was a character alright. I'll miss him deeply!
A real quick story though. I first met Ray back in 1996 or so. He was at the Vine St. location. I had called about getting a muffler replaced on my VW bug, and he quoted a price and said bring it on down. Well, a couple of hours later I took the bug in. Ray said it was now too late to get it done that day, and recommended someone else to do the work. So I started her up and drove off. All of a sudden this guy is chasing me down the street, running, and yells to come back. Good old Ray noticed a noise from my car as I was driving away and wantedd me to be sure to have the engine repaired.....It wasn't a bad muffler after all. Thanks Ray, for being you.

My heart is sad. Although I didn't know Ray as a friend, I knew him as someone that I could trust with my car and as someone who was a genuinely nice man. I will miss his kind, bright eyes, friendly smile, and honest, down-to-earth demeanor. Rest well, Ray.
