Richard Brown Obituary

Richard (Dick) Brown, Jr, 82 ESCONDIDO - Richard (Dick) Brown Jr. passed away on Monday, November 12, 2007. He was born on April 19, 1925 in Los Angeles, CA, son of Richard Sr and Margaret Brown. Dick held a Bachelors degree and teaching credential from Pepperdine University in Los Angeles and Masters Degree from USC in Education. He was a Teacher for LA Unified for 3 years and Principal in Torrance Unified School District for 34 years from 1951-1985 He then retired. He served in the Army during WW II and was a purple heart veteran. Richard was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Torrance and Escondido, Los Angeles Torrance and Palomar YMCA, Sierra Club. Dick and Marty loved to travel in the USA and around the world. He loved camping, fishing, hiking, riding his bike, reading, gardening and being with his family and his dog. Dick was fun loving, enjoyed being a Dad and a grandfather and a great grandfather. He was loved by all who knew him and worked with him. Preceded in death by his parents, Richard Sr. and Margaret Brown. He is survived by his wife Martha; sons, Alan and Tanis Brown, David and Michelle Brown, Paul and Linda Brown; and daughter: Peggy and Steve Bruecker; grandchildren, Jessica, Melissa, Josh, Courtney, Jeff, Keith, Allison, Chris, Lizzy, Ricky, Carrie, Michael and Max; and three great grandchildren.He is also survived by his sister, Doreen and Bill Coulter and their children Bill, Diane and Eric. The family would like to thank the staff at Las Villas del Norte Skilled Nursing Center and Elizabeth Hospice North County for their help at this difficult time. Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 29, 2007 at First United Methodist Church in Escondido. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to either the First United Methodist Church, Escondido Camping Program or Elizabeth Hospice North County.
