ROBERT FLINT Obituary

FLINT, ROBERT "BOB" DEMUTH Robert "Bob" Demuth Flint passed away on April 22, 2011, supported lovingly by his wife Karen and family members at the age of 83. Born in 1927, to Marion Flint whose humanity he inherited and whose love defined him always. Bob spent his early childhood playing in the forests and swimming in the lakes of the Worcester, Massachusetts area. He left home at the tender age of 16 to join the U.S. Navy, a career that spanned nine years and included serving in active duty during World War II. After the war, he was stationed in San Diego where he resided for 63 years. He married and also brought his mother to live with his family and cared for her the remainder of her life. After his marriage ended, he entered into wedded bliss with Karen and spent 40 wonderful years in loving union. Nothing made him happier than to go fishing or golfing with friends and family. He was a dedicated father who did not hesitate to support his sons by becoming a Cub Scout Master and later a Boy Scout Master and was beloved by many a young man who had the privilege of knowing him. Bob felt a strong commitment to serve his country. Not long after leaving the Navy he joined the National Guard where he proudly served his country for 17 years. After retirement, he volunteered as an organizer helping to produce the massing of the colors on Memorial Day in Balboa Park. Bob is survived by his wife Karen, his son David Flint, his stepsons Ken, Jon, and Mark, their wives and grandchildren. He believed in the goodness of people and rarely said an unkind word. He believed in helping his neighbor and the supporting the underdog. He will be greatly missed by his loving family.
