Bob dedicated his life to helping others through Optimist Clubs, with over 32 years as a member, achieving the honor of serving as an International Vice President. His love of the water later led him to the Oceanside Yacht Club where he served as Commodore in 2008. Bob's personal motto was "Friendship is a gift you give yourself" and he truly had an abundance of presents. The family wishes to thank Elizabeth Hospice in Escondido for their love and constant care of Robert. Memorial to be held 3 p.m., Saturday, August 7, at Vista Optimist Club in Vista, Calif. Bob was a dear friend and fellow partner in crime. His ability to see the best in people was a gift as was his sense of humor. In the 15 years that we have known him, there are so many memories: times spent on his boat "Little T", taking trips together, Halloween costume parties and just spending time together, laughing, talking and doing what we do best..enjoying life. We have never known a more thoughtful, courageous, kind, intelligent and fun loving person... We miss him more than words can say. He was a true friend......

August 7, 2010

I met a number of years ago with my husband Dennis, and found him and Lynne to be very kind, friendly and accepting people. We always had good conversation over dinner. I saw him just a few years ago with Terri at the Harbor Days celebration, and he instantly remembered me and my children. We rode together to the OYC and chatted about the years that had past and what we were doing. He always had a smile on his fast and was an instant friend. My sincere sympathies to his children, wife and extended family - Cheryl Proffitt

Bob was the most friendly, caring, loving and optimistic man we have ever met. He truly made a big impression on all of us. We will treasure the time we spent with him always. Fair winds our dear friend.

I remember Bob Fuller from the first time my mother and I visited the Club to consider my membership. He waited at the door with open arms (and a never-ending cup of coffee in hand) to always enthusiastically welcome members and non-members alike. Commodore Fuller seemed to be omnipresent at the Club and became a symbol to me for all things positive. Whether volunteering “Little T” to fill in as OYC RC boat or to simply to enthusiastically support and recognize volunteer committees as we prepared for special events; Bob was always there. I know his spirit will continue to live on throughout the years. God Bless you Terri and the extended Fuller family. I wish you peace in his passing and knowing he remains always close to our hearts.

Bob came into my life when we were about five years of age, long ago in El Monte, CA. We grew up together, and although we attended different schools, we were constant childhood companions. Bob joined the Coast Guard and I went into the Navy after high school. We were each other's "best men" at our first weddings. I moved to Washington state in 1967, but we continued to stay in touch over the years. We visited one another frequently by phone, and in person whenever we could. My wife and I were there when Bob married Terri on their wonderful wedding ceremony cruise. Even though I was prone to seasickness, Bob encouraged me to go with him several times on his Cataline cruises aboard Little T--what fun!

I truly feel that we were members of each other's families and that I have lost a brother. Tons of memories and lots of love for this man. Rest well, Bob.

We have all lost a special person. Darwin and I met Bob and Terri when we joined OYC. Bob always made us feel welcome. Bob published his resume’ during club elections and I was not surprised to find out everything he had done for the communities he has lived in. He was a wonderful, caring man with a huge heart. We will miss his cheerful smile. Rest in Peace

Bob was a wonderful person and a pleasure to know! We will never forget him being King Neptune and making us formal OYC members, after a long, hard and delayed crossing to Emerald Bay. He was also very kind to our little dog, BJ. Our deepest sympathy goes out to Terri and the family. I hope there is comfort in knowing how much everyone loved Bob. He will be missed very much.

It was a great pleasure getting to know Bob over the years. He certainly was not one to ever be short on information as well as words. He really spent some quality time sitting down with me on a number of occassions to lend an ear as well as advice and support. I will always remember a few of his words "Lad, there will be times when things seem to be going completely wrong, but don't give up because others will soon realize that you are just trying to help". He was very inspirational and a good friend. Bob, we will miss you and always have a place in our hearts and mind for you. Terri, you will always have great friends that are around to help you or lend an ear as Bob did, we are very sorry for your loss. Take care and we love ya!!!!

Bob's generousity and giving of his time was his strength. He was Vice Commodore when he signed our application for the Oceanside Yacht Club and he encouraged us to get involved. Bob also took us out on Little "T" as a welcome gesture. How many people would extend themselves this way? Bob always thought very kindly of our kids, Eric and Samantha, as being such a help to the club. When Samantha was hired to help in the galley, by Bob, he made sure it would be fun. He went out and bought her a hat that said Galley Wench on the back, LoL. Sam still laughs at her title.
Bob, you will always be in our memories and will sorely be missed by our family.

Bob was a very spcecial man.. He will always be in my memories. For his kindness, leadership and the way he touched everyone around him. I will miss his humour and his friendly smile.

King Neptune & his sea nymph 2007 Emerald Bay

August 3, 2010

We so loved Bob, and he always had a
special place in my heart!! At my age (57) he certainly could have asked
me, in jest, to be his "sea hag" but he chose the more fun, and flattering
title of "sea nymph", and it was a special request that I was happy to
oblige him for the fun of Emerald Bay! It is a wonderful memory, especially
knowing the pressure he felt as King Neptune that first year. His sense of
humor and timing really proved perfect the two years I enjoyed the title of
King Neptune's sea nymph!! He may have started a new tradition at the
yacht club, since I hear that last year there was a bevy of sea nymphs in
King Neptune's court!! He will certainly be remembered as a caring,
giving , fun loving man.
In loving memory of Bob,we remain honored to have him as our friend. Lon and Peggy Ashby

Balloon Ride---
Bob Fuller, I will always remember you as "the Balloon Man". When our balloon ride was cancelled at the convention, 17 yrs ago, you promised me that you would schedule another one. Each year following that cancellation , I would ask you "when are we going up"? Sometimes it seemed that you would try to avoid me, because you knew that I was going to ask you. One year as the "Mad Hatter" you even gave me a beanie with a propeller on it. You told me to spin it hard and see if that would help me to lift off. Finally, true to your word, you scheduled our ride at the convention of 2009, 17 yrs later. It was great. Also at that convention, you darling wife made me a hat for you to give to me. It was a balloon, basket and all. I love it. I know we won't be able to go on another ride together, but I'll remember you and that ride.

I am Wendy's daughter just wanted to say how sad it was to hear about Bob. He was such a sweet man and if I could have afforded to fly from FLorida to Cali again this year I would have to attend his memorial service. He was always so good to my family and such a truly sincere person. I feel fortunate to have known him and lucky to have him be in my family's life.
Love and hugs!

Bob and I remained friends and family to the end and for that I am very happy and relieved. I enjoyed all of our "Optimist" years together and am so grateful to Terri for many things: for carrying on the Optimist spirit with Bob, for encouraging his yacht club activities, for being a kind and loving Fuller family member and a great Nana, and especially for taking such wonderful and loving care of Bob.
