Robert Melton Obituary

MELTON ROBERT WALLACE Robert Wallace Melton died April 25, 2003 at the age of 79. He was an administrator, teacher, and coach during his 40-year career as a California educator. Born in Shawnee, Oklahoma to Calvin N. Melton and Eula Reily Melton, he moved to California as a young boy. He grew up in San Diego and Coronado, and graduated from Coronado High School in 1941. He served in the Navy during World War II. He then returned to college, receiving his Bachelor ' s and Master ' s degrees from the University of California at Berkeley. During college, he played catcher on the Cal baseball team that won the first NCAA championship in 1947. He is survived by his brothers, Calvin Melton and David Melton, and his sister Ellen Melton; sons Rob Melton and Mark Melton; daughters Holly Melton and Dana Melton; son-in-law John Vogt; daughters-in-law Katherine Brame Melton and Kirsten Terry Melton; grandchildren: Sarah Melton, Timothy Melton, James Melton, Laura Melton, Will Melton, Elizabeth Vogt, and Mary Vogt; and many nieces and nephews, including Bob Melton, David Melton, and Greg Melton. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Innes McElrath Melton in 1997.
